We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamont Griggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lamont, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to start my own landscaping business, several factors influenced my thought process. One of the key considerations was recognizing the potential of an evergreen business, one that is consistently in demand. Landscaping is an essential service, regardless of economic fluctuations. People will always require landscaping and outdoor beautification, making it a resilient and enduring industry to invest in.

Having a deep appreciation for the outdoors and nature, I envisioned a business that would allow me to merge my passion for the environment with my entrepreneurial spirit. The prospect of stepping out of traditional office spaces and working in the great outdoors was exhilarating. This change in environment provided a refreshing perspective, and the ability to contribute to the natural beauty of different spaces was highly appealing.

Furthermore, I wanted to create a scalable business model. Landscaping not only allows for scalability within a single location by adding skilled contractors and expanding service offerings, but it also offers the potential to replicate the business model in other cities by turning it into a franchise. This scalability factor was crucial to my long-term vision of growth and regional expansion.

Starting my landscaping business was not only about creating a livelihood but also about building a brand that embodies my passion for nature, offers a valuable service to the community, and provides opportunities for others to share in this vision. It’s been a rewarding journey so far, and I’m excited about the future possibilities to make our cities and landscapes more beautiful, one project at a time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets our landscaping business apart is our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. We utilize advanced technology, like Google Maps, to streamline our estimation process for new jobs. This not only speeds up the process but also allows us to provide accurate and efficient quotes to our clients. We believe in leveraging technology to enhance our services and provide a seamless experience for our customers.

One of the aspects I’m most excited about is our dedication to constantly evolving and expanding our services. Beyond traditional landscaping, we offer natural extensions such as indoor cleaning and small renovations. This approach provides a comprehensive solution for our clients, allowing them to rely on us for a range of related services, making their lives easier.

The journey to where we are today hasn’t been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. We faced challenges typical of any business, from financial constraints to intense competition. However, our determination and passion for what we do kept us going. Overcoming these hurdles involved strategic planning, perseverance, and seeking advice from mentors, vendors, and our valued commercial clients.

The key lessons we’ve learned include the importance of adaptability in a dynamic market, the value of exceptional customer service, and the significance of leveraging technology for efficiency and growth. Learning from our experiences, we’ve refined our processes, ensuring we continue to evolve and meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.

Our brand is all about quality, innovation, and customer-centric services. We want the world to know that we go beyond traditional landscaping, providing a holistic approach to outdoor and indoor spaces. We value clear communication, leveraging technology to keep our clients informed via texts and emails, making their experience with us seamless and transparent.

In closing, we’re not just a landscaping business; we’re a team of dedicated professionals aiming to transform spaces and exceed expectations. Our story is one of growth, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. We look forward to what the future holds and the opportunity to continue serving our community with passion and commitment.
