We had the good fortune of connecting with LaLah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaLah, how do you think about risk?
I think about risk as being the scary place that you “have to” go to when you’re about to make a life changing decision. The more afraid I am of a thought, the more I feel like it’ll be successful. No risk that doesn’t make me afraid is worth risking. That’s in regards to good risk, to clarify.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business’ name is “Ooh Spa LaLah”, an African American owned Private Nail Spa that’s based on providing superb service to an upscale client base, offering each popular demanded service, such as Acrylic, Manicures and Pedicures & many other nail care requests by my women and/or men clientele. Being that I have a surge of servicing business professionals, I always aim to provide clients with a relaxing, “step away” that’s therapeutic for not only physical but mental as well. I am most proud that in just one week from now, on November 21st, I will be officially at my 1 year business anniversary. It has not been an easy road, but a road worth traveling. As any other business, you must maintain an actual business structure, so I’ve learned the balance between being the artist and also the business owner. Self guiding myself though getting things logistically set was not easy. However, once everything was lined up, it’s been a smooth sail. I highly recommend to any nail professional that’s looking to legitimize their business to begin the process of a business entity. It’ll work out much better in the end.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were in town visiting, first I’d take her to a new black owned business in Camp Creek called Harold’s Bar & Grill in the Camp Creek Marketplace II. They have the perfect setting for amazing food, drinks and music! That’s the perfect night out for us. Then I’d have to do research of my own to see what’s any additional things that we could do, because just like her, we are both Miami, Fl. natives and I’ve only been residing in Atlanta since late 2019 and haven’t gotten familiarized with the exciting, interesting things to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my late, great mother, Mesha. As well as my amazing husband, Supreme, my lovely little sister, Laniyah and most importantly God/Spirit. I have had so much undeniable support that reminds me every day the reasoning behind why I strive for the best, always.
