We had the good fortune of connecting with LaKeyshia Lowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaKeyshia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my MOM! She taught me to treat others with respect and to keep pushing no matter how hard things get! She was a hardworking single mom of three kids. As I get older I realize how I am a spitting image of her. We exemplify the same mannerisms and have the same drive! I also have to give her credit for my independency. My online business is named JoeBoi Fashions, in which “JoeBoi” was her childhood nickname. My mom passed away with dementia at a early age eight years ago. I wanted to keep her name and legacy going! I do this for her and that is why she is the most important factor behind my success and my brand!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Along with maintaining my online business I also have a full time job! Trying to juggle both is not an easy task. Time management is the key to making both successful. For example, I manage my time by shipping orders on my lunch break or posting new inventory or items after I get off! I am most proud of myself because I am still learning and still trying to figure things out and I am handling it gracefully.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was to visit me I would take them to our downtown area where we would go to a restaurant called Sole and enjoy a great meal, good laughs and music. We can also take a stroll down river walk and eat at Humanitree House, Knuckle Sandwiches or Broad Street Bullie’s Grille. Then we can follow that by a visit the museum and go tubing down the canal. We can end the night with karaoke. Before my best friend leaves, we would have brunch at this restaurant called Oliviana.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I want to thank God for giving me this vision and allowing me to see it through! Secondly, I would like to shout out my family and friends for the encouragement and support! Last by not least I want to shout out MYSELF for not giving up!
