We had the good fortune of connecting with Laketa Entzminger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laketa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to start my own business after seeing how the products I was making for my family and friends were effective. I created an herbal product line of tea blends, tinctures, and salves. I also customized herbal formulas for clients through herbal consultations. Eventually, I transitioned more into educating others about herbalism because of the herbal knowledge that was not passed down to me from my grandparents who were herbalists. I started thinking about how other families may have a similar disconnection and the opportunities missed due to the lack of knowledge. This sentiment led to me writing I Am an Herbalist: Easy Herbal Recipes for Children.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and founder of Lady K’s Herbal Solutions, an herbal care company that equips, empowers, and educates families on how to use herbs in their everyday lives. I have a passion for teaching children and families how to create natural, healing remedies through herbalism. Herbalism is the study and use of the medicinal properties of plants. Families can create healing remedies just by starting with what they already have in their own kitchens! I started studying herbalism when I experienced chronic illness as a new teacher. Prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines were not working. I tried the herbal route, and it proved to be effective especially without the added sugars, dyes, and synthetic ingredients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would try From the Earth in Roswell for fresh farm-to-table, Bantam & Biddy for yummy soul food, and Bruster’s for delightful ice cream. I enjoy learning about history, so I would check out the Atlanta History Center and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Lady Ty the Great of GreaterU! She has pushed me to write and publish a book after years of writing. I have been writing since I was a child and have always wanted to publish my own children’s books. She has been able to make this process a little easier and challenges me to step out of my comfort zone. I also want to shout out all of my supporters, family, and friends and say THANK YOU for their encouragement along the way.
