We had the good fortune of connecting with LaKesha Myrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaKesha, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
One of my core values that I try to live by is excellence. Whether personally or professionally, excellence matters most to me because I care about the value that I bring to others. Whatever I do, I strive to do it well. I just believe in putting forth my very best effort. I want people to know that I care, that I consider them, and that they are not just another person but they are significant. I believe it’s a way of serving. There is also this scripture in the Bible that I keep in mind, it is in Colossians 3:23-24. The amplified version says, Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve.

So whether people appreciate it or not, applaud me or not, excellence is just who I am because it is in my heart to do and ultimately as I serve people, I serve God which is important to me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a solutionist. I am all about providing solutions to your problems. If I can’t personally solve it, I’m going to help you figure out who can. I want to see you grow and I want you to be profitable, in life and/or business. That’s what I do. So, whether you are a small business owner looking to thrive or a woman seeking personal growth and spiritual guidance, I’m the one!

I say life and business because the work I believe I’ve been called to do essentially overlaps, it’s just a question of, am I working with a business owner or am I working with a woman personally. Either way, I provide my clients with trustworthy support and position them to profit.

As a strategist, I work with small-owned business owners, specifically owners who are startup and in development stages, helping them structure, organize, and maintain their business operations effectively. I offer business planning sessions for new and developing entrepreneurs, as well as customized virtual administrative support to busy faith-based business owners who need assistance with managing their growing business. One-off projects or on-going monthly support, I work with my clients to save them time and resources so they can focus on what they do best.

As a life coach, I help women embrace who they are and who they are becoming as they navigate their purpose journey. My favorite tool is self reflection through journaling and I created a self-guided transformation journal called The Ultimate BeU Guide that helps women recognize negative self-talk, release it, and heal, as they discover or rediscover who they truly are in God. I also have an inspirational line of apparel and merchandise and host empowerment events to encourage them in their journey.

I believe what sets me apart is being a child of the most high God. God’s hand is on my life and as one of His, we abide by a different set of rules. Rules where supernatural guidance and favor assist me as I run my businesses and as I support my clients.

I am most excited about the future, to see what is to come. To see it all come together. All the ideas and all the hard work. I believe it will pay off and I am proud of myself for not quitting. Starting and running a business is hard work. Listen, I take my hat off to every single person who even attempts to start a business. I’ve learned many things so far but through my experience, mindset was one of the biggest challenges for me and even now I still work through it. I believe it’s one of those things that will always be there as you evolve as a person and grow in business. The mindset work is so essential in moving forward, not only in business but in your life! Your mind has to be transformed. It plays a major role in how we view and respond to things, and it is often connected to childhood trauma or just traumatic experiences in general. So, I suggest everyone consider the inner work that may need to be done along with all the other key foundational work that should be done to run a business effectively and lead a prosperous life.

My brand and my story are still evolving, but everything that I do, I try to be intentional. I don’t desire to live a haphazard life. I care about people, and I care to leave an impact on those I encounter. I believe there is so much in store for us, that we all have been created for a purpose and that there is a specific plan for us to follow. We won’t always make the best decisions and life won’t always be “easy”, but there is something for each of us to do to make this world a better place and I strive to be the kind of person that makes a difference.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I am always down to explore, but I’m pretty much a go with the flow type of person when it comes to hanging out, however I’m sure that we would already have tickets or scoped out somewhere for some live music. During the week we would probably do a food tour because ya girl is a foodie! Lol! So, let’s see, here are a few spots that we would probably hit up:

Houstons
Slutty Vegan
Copelands
Sugar Factory

I’m sure we would probably try many more! Especially for brunch, because there’s nothing like some good ol’ shrimp and grits or brioche french toast.

Visit Lenox Square and do some shopping. Spend a day at Six Flags. Who knows, we may even plan a day to drive up and visit Chateau Elan for a tour, wine tasting, and some spa time. Anything goes when my friends and I get together. We truly just enjoy each other’s company and can just sit, laugh, and talk. It doesn’t take much for us.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! This is such a loaded answer for me. Lol. There are many that have contributed to my success and my journey, my family, my friends, my church family, but if I had to choose one for now, I would have to shout out my business life coach, Natalie Lee Martin and my C2E Academy family created by her. It is a powerful group membership program of Kingdom driven women entrepreneurs who are building their business. C2E has been my trusted community over the last six months along with working 1:1 with coach Natalie for about two years now and I am so thankful to God for leading me to her. The healing, the transformation, the growth that has taken place is mind blowing to me. They have really pushed me and affirmed me during such a transitional season of my life.
