We had the good fortune of connecting with LAKEISHA KING and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LAKEISHA, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
September 2016 I was 7 months pregnant, and I was working a full time manager’s position at Office Depot. I was having complications with my pregnancy. One day during work I was assisting a customer, and all of a sudden I blacked out. The next thing I remember was waking up on the floor surrounded by Paramedics. It was in that moment I had to decide what was more important. This job or my baby.

What should our readers know about your business?
When I first started I branded my business as King’s Kreations. I felt like the name was fitting because it was my last name, and I considered myself to be very creative. In September 2016 I quit my Full-Time job. I did not have a plan. All I had was Faith & God. I told myself there is no way that God has gifted me in so many areas, and I am waking up helping someone else grow their own business. I can take this same knowledge and invest in my own business. Right now I just hit my 7 year anniversary of being an entrepreneur. I stand very proud of myself because this has not been a easy journey. I started from a Iron, Ironing board, and a cricut in a bedroom in my home. I worked very hard to pour into my business. In the beginning stages there was no money. Every year I used my tax return to invest into my dream. There was many nights/days I wanted to give up. There was many nights/days I cried myself to sleep because money wasn’t matching the time I was investing. August 2021 I launched You Go Girl. I know what its like to start from the bottom, and now I use my business to coach other Small Business Entrepreneurs. My heart is to give back, and that’s what I do. I empower other Entrepreneurs on this same journey. There are not limits with God.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have located some of the best spots in Texas that serve the authentic Mexican Food. We would definitely check out my favorite spots for the Mexican Food. Now every girl loves to shop, and of course we have to take a visit to the Galleria Mall. The Buffalo Bayou Park has been rated as one of the best spots to visit in Houston so that’s a spot we must go see. The Turkey Leg Hut has been branded as the BIG talk of the city, and my friend coming in from Mississippi I am sure that has to be added to our list of spots I take her to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom Shelia King. My mom always made endless sacrifices for myself and my brother. Once I made the decision that I wanted to be a Business Owner I always told myself I will make her proud, and she would be well taken care of.
