We had the good fortune of connecting with Lainie Pahos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lainie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s something I’ve always wanted to do in some form. I have produced one-off shows here and there over the years but nothing major. I’ve been in the entertainment industry for over two decades and I’ve done pretty much every job a person can do in the theatre so I felt equipped to finally rally a solid team around me and go for it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think my favorite thing about being a member of the entertainment industry is that it is such a collaborative effort. I love being with a group of talented people and creating something together. I don’t often set out on solo projects because I crave the input of others and want their fresh perspective. Cocktale Hour was born out of a conversation between a few talented friends discussing a show we had recently seen and all the ways we, personally, could have executed it better with our multi-faceted skillsets and knowledge. So we did. We faced several challenges with our inaugural show, some of which we are still trying to find solutions for for future productions. But at the end of the day the audience feedback was overwhelmingly positive and that’s what it’s all about!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love taking visiting friends and family to local theatre (Shakespeare Tavern, The Alliance, Center for Puppetry Arts, etc) as well as some of my favorite restaurants (Herban Fix, La Semilla, Bar Vegan, etc). Weather permitting, we’d go hiking with the dogs or sit at an outdoor patio and grab drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents for fostering my love of entertainment from an early age and never discouraged me from pursuing my passions–and showing up to countless performances, some of which I am sure weren’t great…
