Meet Lailah (manic ) Perry | Public Relations Specialist & Podcaster

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lailah (manic ) Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lailah (manic ), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business is be prepared to fail, there’s no such thing as success and without failure. You need to be resilient and view it as a key part to your story of success, use it as momentum.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With my podcast this season I’ve tried to do interactive interviews to keep the mind stimulated while we talk about the topic the guest(s) pick. I’m excited for
this season because I have so many creative ideas to not only keep my interviewees engaged but my viewers as well, hopefully I encourage others to think outside of the box. However I did take two years off from my podcast due to my mental health, it was such a battle to put myself out there without caring about others perspectives. The main lesson I have learned is to always surround yourself with genuine love , without love in your life there’s no passion , motivation , or even really life in my opinion. To love is to live.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever I have people visit me
I typically take them to colony square I love that area it’s always great food, drinks, and people. I really love the speakeasy Jojo’s I’d also take them there for their karaoke night. Also walk up the street to the high museum which always has beautiful exhibits! The beltline is always a good time you never know what or who you will see , there’s a variation of activities you can do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My own experience in life prompted for me to start my own mental health podcast and also going to an HBCU. (Clark Atlanta University )Mental illness is such a taboo topic especially in the black community, I wanted to normalize it’s normal no matter race, gender , or religion it happens. My support system that has always had my back even when I lost the motivation due to my mental illness they kept me going and reminded me of my purpose to spread the word and show people it’s okay to not be ok.
