We had the good fortune of connecting with La’Fanique Hamler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi La’Fanique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was built out of necessity. We couldn’t get the ethnic hair care brands we needed, delivered to us. So thus birthed the idea to start our own app to provide this service.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
While delivery is our foundation, we are very excited to take our brand beyond that. We’re excited to integrate technology into the beauty world and ensure that black people are well represented and accounted for in both the tech and beauty industries.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, my best friend already lives in the city. She and I like to try to find places we’ve never been to before. Our most recent outing was to Puttshack. We loved the vibes there and the food and drinks were great. We’re both foodies so we also love trying new places to eat. Chattahoochee food works is a foodie’s heaven with so many different food places to try.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our Delta Sigma Theta Soror, Iyani Hughes, definitely deserves a shoutout. She has been a huge supporter of our app while managing multiple businesses of her own as well as her career in journalism and being a mom. Can we say wonder woman!? She encourages us to keep going and has given us great advice.
