Meet LaConya Richardson | Master Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaConya Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaConya, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Trust is an invaluable aspect of my craft as a Master Cosmetologist.
The retention and growth of clientele firmly rests on the consistent provision of quality hair care, client/stylist rapport and a safe, inviting atmosphere.
In many cases, these “beauties”, as I like to call them, have experienced various traumatic, unpleasant salon experiences that have made them leery of hair stylists.
Because of this, the stylist must re-build trust by first listening to the clients needs.
Understanding the end goal, reaching a mutual action plan and executing services with professionalism results in a highly satisfied guest.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artistry and creativity as a Master Stylist comes from a passion for serving people, specifically those who want enhance their beauty through hair care.
I believe that my craft is a gift from God that comes from within – I truly love what I do.
What sets me apart is the connection that I have with those that trust me to enhance their natural beauty.
It not just about hair, it’s literally a mutually beneficial relationship that is birthed out of trust, effective communication, understanding and loyalty.
My development as a professional hair care specialist and the ability to maintain a successfully thriving business over the last 15 years is what I’m most proud of.
I’m excited to have also recently become a certified makeup artist (MUA) which increases my skill set and value as a sought after beauty professional.
What led me to where I am today, was the desire to become a professional stylist in my mid thirties after an unfulfilling, 12 year tenure in corporate America.
The transition was not easy and came with its challenges. There were numerous times that I questioned my decision due to the demands of balancing entrepreneurial duties while building a life as single mother.
My son Jaylan has always been a major supporter of my career, motivating and inspiring me to follow my dreams and aspirations.
The love and devotion to my craft and the impact on the lives of those I serve is what has kept me in the game.
Researching how I could develop my brand through the use of social media and increasing my skill set has allowed me to overcome obstacles and remain persistent and successful.
A number of my “beauties” are not only clients; I consider them my extended family and I’m grateful for each and every one of them.
I truly care about their well being and go over and beyond to exceed their expectations, however, I’ve learned that while you pour into others, you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Creating a balance between your profession and your personal life is essential. Taking care of yourself before anyone else allows you to show up in your best form.
The world should know that LP Rich Beauty encompasses the enhancement of beauty and wellness while empowering others through life changing experiences and developing enriching relationships that encourage self confidence and positive energy. ♥️

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The “Atl” is full of amazing spots for great food and hot spots for relaxation and entertainment.
The brunch buffet at 5 Church is always a win. They have an amazing variety of options for any appetite.
My favorites are the Crab Meunière dip, 5 Church lamb burger and Coconut curry.
We’ll definitely visit Atlantic Station, to shop, explore and burn some calories or maybe Mercedes Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons during football season to tailgate or catch a home game.
A couple relaxing spots would be an invigorating foot massage at Treat your Feet or taking a nice drive to Chateau Elan for a wine tour.
Either way, I will likely sneak in a nap to recharge…don’t judge me… I’m 50! Lol!
Dinner at my favorite steakhouse Morton’s never disappoints. Cajun Ribeye me please…side of brussels.
I’m a Smooth Jazz, R&B kinda girl so we would definitely have to catch a show at City Winery or St. Live!.
We can mix and match this itinerary during the weeklong visit, venturing out to various cities throughout metro Atlanta experiencing historical venues, indulging in fine cuisine and enjoying star studded nightlife entertainment.
There is so much to do! ✨

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother, Denise Richardson, who has taught me love, faith, strength & resilience is the pillar of my being.
Without her, I would not exist and none of my success would be possible.
My aunt, Sondra Woods, also a former Master Cosmetologist, helped shape me into the stylist I am today.
The countless days in her salon as a young child watching her answer the phone jotting down appointments in the infamous “Book” in pencil is a distinct memory that remains etched in my mind.
She was a one woman show, like me, tirelessly performing relaxers, color, shampoos, deep conditioners, haircuts, styling etc. all while single handedly maintaining the business side of the profession.
Sondra inherited this gift from my amazing grandmother, Florence Black who also earned a living, supporting her family as a Cosmetologist.
The Beauty Profession is in my Blood. ♥️
