We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacie Doll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lacie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
That’s a good question. When I started working in the industry I work in I didn’t have a work life balance. It was all work all the time. I had this internal worry that I wouldn’t reach my goals in the mental timeline I gave myself. I worked myself into constant anxiety and panic attacks. Eventually I realized the timeline for my success didn’t come from me. It came from the plan the universe laid out for me long before I was even here. All I had to do is stay consistent, focused and determined. It would happen when it’s supposed to. Now I do my best to make time for rest, family and friends. I am busy so I can’t give them all of my days or time but I am in a place where I can comfortably set time aside for them and balance my work life a little better.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My expression of art is done through storytelling. I think… what sets me apart for others is my ability to produce more that one type, style or body of work. In the Atlanta Lesbian community there are so many talented women but in my experience a lot of creatives get caught up in popularity or trying to be famous in anyway they can they lose sight of what their actual passion is. For me, it’s not about the streams. It’s not about going viral or trying to seem cool. For me, it’s about the story, the art… It’s about the film or the book. I could care less about being an influencer or viral. It wasn’t easy to get to where I am. You have to fight through the fakes to get to the real in Atlanta and sometimes the fakes can convince you to focus on the wrong things. It’s easy to lose your focus. I’ve lost my focus before. I had to recenter myself, quiet all the outside noise and find my true passion. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is earning genuine respect from my peers and other professionals is more powerful and important that gaining online adoration from “fans.”
I want the world to know that I’m more than the blogs and reaction videos. I’m more than the internet beef and drama. In the past few years my work has been overshadowed by the drama I’ve had being associated with certain people. That’s not what my brand or business is about. It’s certainly not where my story begins or ends.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming to Atlanta for a week we’d start off getting brunch in midtown, hopping on scooters and riding along the belt line. We’d end our ride at Ponce City Market where I’d take them to the rooftop. the next day we’d go to the trap museum afterwards get lunch and the trap and hit up one of the immersive museums, i think right now the Disney immersive exhibit is up. The next day we’d go on an afternoon hike at Stone Mountain. After the hike we’d stop by American Deli for wings and go to Starlight for a drive in movie. By the weekend we’d have to start hitting up some of Boss Britt, DJ Excel and Honest’s parties (they throw the biggest lesbian parties in the city) We’d have to stop by Atlantic Station during the day then head to the Bank for dinner in the Vault and by Sunday we’d hit up Rum Punch Brunch.
