We had the good fortune of connecting with LaCheryle Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaCheryle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was completely scared!!! I knew that I had to keep my job so I could pay for my dreams but then my dreams became bigger than said job. So I took a leap of faith and went for it. It’s been a rough 2 years but I’m still at it and I will not give up on me.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
First the biggest lesson I learned was to NOT hire family/friends!!! I’m most proud of my courage. My faith is so strong in God that I know I won’t fail if I just put him first. It was not easy and technically still at the beginning. I’m 2 years in and I’m just getting started. What sets me apart from most Atlanta businesses/chefs is I’m from Ga. My food is genuinely Ga style soul food. I’ve been cooking since 9, earned my trade in culinary at 17, I’m now 34. It wasn’t easy getting here and I’m far from done. What I want the world to know is that I’m on my way to the top tier of “Personal Chef” maybe even in their kitchen. (Lol)

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we would visit the MLK Center and the house’s. Then we would walk Edgewood to see all the Black excellence in the area. We would eat at Milk and honey downtown college park. We would ride the train and catch the bus to Stone Mtn. Then we going to Six Flags and eat funnel cakes til we get sick. Then slide over to Douglasville for some shrimp and grits at thumbs up diner. We would stay at Hotel 12 so she gets the best view of Midtown Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Specifically chef Sammy Davis has inspired me along the way. Of course I would like to S/o my son’s, boyfriend, and my family/friends for all the support along the way. My boyfriend is 1 of the main reasons I jumped out there though. He gave me the ability to do this by taking care of the house financially while I venture into my dreams.
