We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Bridges and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business came out of the desire to be able to own my time. Being in a male-dominated industry, you always have to prove yourself more and be the hardest working person in the room. I wanted to be able to create an agency that values the balance in each person’s individual life and allows them to find happiness in their work. I genuinely enjoy working long hours, as long as I’m afforded time to balance and be a good friend and family member.
As much as times have changed, it is still so empowering being able to own my own agency and find success in a field not previously female lead or driven.
What should our readers know about your business?
What I think sets my agency apart is our understanding of community. There is a constant flow of ‘what’s next’ with brands and companies that are moving so quickly to the next campaign, the next product, and so on. However, being able to storytell and create shared connections and experiences is something that lasts and will not so easily be forgotten or moved on from.
Getting to this point was not easy of course, as is the case with most people’s journeys. However, I feel so fortunate that after all of the hard work, I have found a career that makes me truly happy. After all of the hurdles and challenges, at the end of the day, I get to do what I love and that is so rare for most.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week-long trip would always start at the beach. Even after 14 years of living in LA, I still feel like getting out to the ocean is a paradise we do not enjoy enough.
Then, Downtown LA is a must for anyone visiting. Walking around the wholesale markets, followed by the Flower Mart, then stopping into one of the hotel lobbies for an iced coffee or glass of wine, like the Hoxton or Proper Hotel. Ending the day at Bottega Louie for their macarons – that can not be skipped.
Last would have to be seeing a show at a live music venue, or multiple if possible. The LA staples are the Troubadour or Hollywood Bowl. Then, heading back downtown to the Telegram Ballroom or Mayan Theatre for a rock show would be the perfect ending.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is an amazing series that continues the positivity and allows for gratitude to be expressed.
I was fortunate to have two amazing bosses that helped lead me to where I am today. Josh Willis, who took me under his wing when I first moved to LA and taught me the ins and outs of the footwear industry. Shawn Higdon was truly meant to lead and made me want to become a leader and always look out for everyone around me.
I have been so fortunate with the most amazing network of friends, from LA to New York to Portland, that constantly lift me up, support me, and always cheer me on. I am continuously grateful for their generosity, advice, shared connections, and willingness to always be in my corner.
I have to shoutout my family, specifically my brother, for never letting me quit when I got scared in the beginning and never letting me give up on this dream of mine.
Last, of course, Brittany Chow for shouting me out and always being an amazing colleague and friend.
