Meet La’ Keshia (K. Marie) Campbell

We had the good fortune of connecting with La’ Keshia (K. Marie) Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi La’ Keshia (K. Marie), what are you inspired by?
What inspires me most are the stories I hear everyday. People share with me the deepest parts of their experiences, the pain, the losses, the life altering moments-and what moves me is not just the weight of those stories, but the strength within them. Often, someone will begin to speak and not even realize that what they’re carrying is grief. As they open up, I’m able to help them put language to what they’re feeling, to redefine grief in a way that makes space for their experience. Being part of that moment-when something clicks and they begin to see their pain differently-is deeply inspiring. Whether someone is just starting to navigate their grief or slowly finding their way forward, I’m constantly reminded of the resilience, courage, and beauty in simply continuing on.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others, what am I most proud of or excited about.
I am K. Marie, a grief navigation expert, international speaker, bestselling author, and mother. My mission is to help individuals and organizations transform loss into leadership, pain into purpose, and setbacks into stepping stones. What sets my work apart is its deeply personal foundation—born from the tragic loss of my daughter, Kamaria Spaulding (18yrs old) on April 12, 2020, due to a car accident. This profound experience compelled me to create spaces where healing isn’t about forgetting but about finding the courage to move forward. Through my speaking engagements, books, and community initiatives, I guide others to redefine grief and discover resilience within themselves.
How did I get to where I am today business-wise? Was it easy? If not, how did I overcome the challenges?
The journey was anything but easy. Navigating the depths of personal grief while building a platform to support others required immense strength and vulnerability. I faced the challenge of turning my pain into a purpose that could resonate with and aid others in their healing journeys. By sharing my story authentically and developing tailored programs for diverse audiences—including corporate teams, educators, and faith-based communities—I was able to connect deeply and foster transformative experiences.
I often share that I never chose to be a speaker, speaking chose me. I have always had a heart to help and as I enduring the weight of grief I found comfort in sharing my journey with others through social media. As time continued and people began to experience their own challenges with grief they began to reach out for guidance and overtime I became know as the grief person and before long I went from sharing my story one on one to sharing it on stages. I then began to discover that often what people were struggling with was unresolved grief. Overtime regardless of the problem or challenge someone was experiencing, the root of the problem was tied to grief and as we began to heal the underlying cause the problem was then solved and as I continued to do this time and time again eventually K. Marie Inspires was formed.
What are the lessons I’ve learned along the way?
One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is that healing is not linear, and it’s okay to seek support. I’ve also realized the power of storytelling in connecting with others and facilitating healing. Embracing vulnerability has allowed me to build genuine connections and create impactful change. Additionally, I’ve learned the importance of self-care and setting boundaries to sustain the emotional labor involved in this work.
What do I want the world to know about me or my brand and story?
I want the world to understand that grief, while deeply painful, can also be a catalyst for profound growth and transformation. My brand, K. Marie, is dedicated to guiding individuals through their own unique grief journeys, helping them find strength and purpose beyond their pain. My book, From Broken to Beautifully Healed, encapsulates this mission, offering readers a companion in their healing process. I share my story of loss, depression, abusive relationships, and grief, which eventually turned to gratitude and a journey of healing in order to help others see themselves in my story and journal their own journey guiding them from broken to beautifully healed. No two people grieve the same and everyone deserves the time, space, and grace to heal regardless of what they are grieving because all tears matter when it comes to grief.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When it comes to hanging out I am the worst. No one calls me for advice on where to go lol. The majority of my time is spent working, at home with the family, traveling, or at church. I do love to eat and I love exploring new places but I am usually the friend calling asking for advice on where to go or my friends and family know me so they not only send me the name of the place to meet but they send me the address so I can use my GPS. LOL yes I am that person.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I think about the people who have had an impacted on my life I’m honestly blessed because I have been surrounded by so many amazing people from bosses, mentors, friends, and my amazing family, all of which who have played a vital role in my story and my journey with grief.
I could go into great detail about each but I want to take a moment and put the spot light on my two amazing and wonderful sons Keadyn Campbell (15 years old) and Kahlil Campbell (13 years old). Not only have they walked their own grief journey with courage and strength, but they’ve stood beside me in mine. As I began to share my story publicly and eventually turned that into the work I do today, helping others navigate their own grief, they offered me so much support, understanding, and grace. They have allowed me to not only share my story with grief but at times share their as well in order to help others heal. Their resilience inspires me. They deserve so much credit for not only surviving grief, but living through it with open hearts and giving others encouragement to do the same.
