We had the good fortune of connecting with L D and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LD, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue this as a career because my whole life I grew up an athlete. When the ball stopped bouncing, the hobby of writing took over and turned into something more serious. Also, being able to express yourself creatively is a good way to clear your head.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been consistently making music for two years now. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic and willingness to try anything. When I first started, I had a rotation of different types of songs I would write each day. One day might be all love songs on R&B beats. The next day could me more upbeat and lit songs. The journey has not been easy but it nonetheless, I am having fun and that is what’s most important. A lesson that I have learned is that your friends and family are not going to be your main supporters, you just have to keep going and your audience will find you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my friends came to Atlanta, we would definitely have a blast. The first thing we would do is get some food from American Deli. When I first moved here, I ate American deli for a week straight. After that, something like top golf or going to hoop would be cool. After that we would probably either go to the studio, or go to a lounge to get drinks. There is a lot to do and most things just happen on the spot.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, there is three people. The first two are my parents. They push me to succeed everyday in ways that they don’t even know. When I was at a point in my life of not knowing what to do, they played a major role in getting me out of that funk and getting back to myself. The final person I would like to shoutout is my cousin who is also an artist, Dallas. Ever since I first started making music, he was the first person to show me the way and believe in me. Without him, I would have not learned at the pace I did.
