We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyng Musik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyng, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because being an artist is being an author! Whether we are physically drawing, writing lyrics, painting a picture, recording vocals or capturing photographic memories, we’re telling a story that speaks volume to whatever the topic is that will stand the test of time! To be able to help bring my own, or someone’s vision or words to life is the best feeling in the world. In a artistic musical sense, First, whatever I go through, I create the story with words most times, then I’ll take the words and add musical elements and finally portray the emotion into the song to make it relatable to others who may be listening! Being a creative is more than claps and money! Being a creative means being able to create art 25/8! There is no limitations to art, which means you can inspire or encourage anyone, anywhere in whatever situation! I truly have the best career in the world! There is nothing like it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My authenticity in my struggles and life set me apart from other artist! Whatever I go through, I write about it! I’ve learned that many people go through the exact same thing and hope that someone they either know or is inspired by has been through exactly that. With authenticity comes true and loyal fans. When people can see you’re human and real with emotions and not stubborn and stuck up, everything becomes relatable. Then to have music to match what they’ve been going through and couldn’t put it words, becomes the icing on the cake! I am most proud of being an inspiration or outlet to the world! The greatest gift to me is seeing the satisfaction and gratitude of a project that I created from a real moment in my life. Like seeing my aunt go through a domestic violence situation and overcoming that, I wrote a song called “Half Of You”, available now everywhere!

I got to where I am today by staying true to my passion and taking on every beneficial opportunity to connect with another person out there! It’s a slow and steady process at times, but with that, it gives me more time to really connect with everyone and feel! This road was and is not easy at all! Many long long weeks of nothing, inconsistency with paychecks, being scared to fail, overthinking, waiting for things to be perfect, being in the public eye, self gratitude and self love issues and the best one, the fear of not being good enough because of what’s acceptable in the industry right now! I’ve overcome this challenge by keeping God first in all things, then going with my heart! It’s imperative to not lose yourself or what you feel is right, because someone out there will be quick to tell you you should change who you are! Please DONT! Most times, people believe gimmicks is the only thing that will make you successful, but my integrity and honesty will connect me with more genuine souls personally, opposed to the facade of who I was told to be!

I want the world to know that I understand most times what they’re going through whether it’s a sad moment, happy moment or a breakup, I’ve been there and I have a song for it! All in all, be you and be available to help someone with whatever struggle they’re currently facing! Be the person someone can turn to when life gets hard!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I’m more of an out of town kind of guy. I am spontaneous and I only abide by schedules to mainly be on time for my flights! But seriously, I love food. If the food is good and I mean superb, best believe I am there! It doesn’t matter the cost, place or time. Food is my truest friend indeed! I love taking random adventures, drives and road trips exploring the world! There is so much more to life than just where you were born. I pray everyone gets to “make it out” and see that there is way more to life than what you’re accustomed to! Shoutout to my mom for showing me that! I Love you mom! Mini golf, karaoke, bike riding, kayaking, restaurant hoping, flying a plane, jam sessions, all of those things overly excite me! No where in particular! Wherever has the best vibes honestly!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give credit and many thank yous to Wanya Morris, from Boyz II Men; who gave me the opportunity of a lifetime since being apart of “Wan Wednesday”, which is a group of amazingly talented individuals who’ve earned their spot by competing in a vocal conception created by him. Wanya has been overly helpful with catapulting my career in a great way! I’ve gained many new fans and supporters who support me in every way and I’m grateful for them all! Wanya and I have recorded many tracks you guys will be hearing very soon! To know I have a legend that has inspired me as a kid since a young age, now being a mentor and brother, that is one of the greatest highlights of my career thus far!
