Meet Kyn Adams | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyn Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyn, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Being an independent artist pretty much everything is on your plate. I also work a 9-5 Monday through Friday, so balance is something that I have gradually learned over time. i do believe God will not give me more than I can handle. I am a very organized person when it comes to business and getting work done. Now adding in music sometimes it is hard to keep the balance straight and not allow my 9-5 take away too much from me being creative. I will say that working out helps me to balance the emotions from my 9-5. Mentally it is draining somedays and working out lets me release that energy. With us also being in a Pandemic for the last year working from home I had to re-balance my self. Because now my job was at home. It was different but I literally kept myself on a schedule. Planning out the day and setting time aside for me, work, and all things music. Balance is key in life for me. I wear so many hats and I do not want to leave no area neglected.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Singing has always been apart of my life growing up. I have always been told I should try out for the singing shows like The Voice or American Idol. So I did. After being told no for a third time in 2016 it was hard to understand why I was given this gift. I questioned it and truly started to lose confidence in it because I was seeking approval to sing elsewhere besides my self. After talking with family and friends, 2018 is when I decided to step out and make my own music. I knew it was not going to be easy. I knew I could not do it alone and I knew it was going to take a lot of work. Looking back now in 2021 I have seen so much growth and learned so much just in these few years.
A lesson I keep with me is to not allow other people to influence my brand. People offer criticism all the time and I can either take it or not. The decision is mine in the end. I had to learn not to be a people pleaser but a Kyn pleaser at the end of the day. The music industry is forever changing and so many people do music. I needed to truly harness on what sets me apart from everyone else. Its my voice, my sound, my message, what Kyn brings to the table. Me being me is what is going set me apart from everyone. No one is going be me or bring the flare/spark that I bring on a track or in the writing of a song. Being a creative is something I love so much because it is really no rules. Blank slate. Challenges come but I truly love a challenge. I like to prove people wrong or show people that you can do it to. Whatever you “IT” is. That what I want the world to see my brand as. My story is about not taking not for an answer and also doing the work. Success is not easy, but damn worth it!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my parents and sister. They have supported me in all aspects of this journey that I am on. My best friend/manager Shew, who has literally been with me every step. One of the dopest creatives I know. Thirdly, I have to shout out Jayo, whom produces pretty much all my songs. He has truly helped me expand my sound and find my voice more. Lastly, to my KynFolk, the fans! I do not care if I only have 5 fans those 5 fans ride for me and I appreciate it so much! KynFolk is my family and I do this for y’all. I am so thankful for the people God has surrounded me with to allow me to share my gift. It truly takes a team.
