Meet Kylyn Avery | Film Director / Videographer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylyn Avery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kylyn, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Believe in Dreams “ That has always been my affirmation / Motto I would use to reassure myself. I would use this affirmation almost on a daily in my life , so much that I got a ambigram tattoo on my forearm of it ! It’s to always remind me that everything is temporary, Where I’m at right now in this moment ,Is temporary to get me to where I want to be in life . I truly believe in God & myself so much I pushed myself hard to not let negativity or anyone try to get in the way of my dreams. I have a very vivid imagination that one can say is like a world itself . All I’m trying to do is interpret my dreams into reality so you all can see what an genius creator I am.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Film Director/ Freelance Videographer. I started off my senior year in high school making my first horror film project and that’s where the drive started. My teacher gave me a subject which was fear and my brain exploded with ideas. It was an instant thing where I saw the whole film I was going to make in my head . Just had to create it.
I am most proud of where I am now compared to where I was 4 years ago. Back then I would always doubt myself. I really didn’t know where to start or to really begin, God told me to jump and I jumped .Its all about trusting the process and having faith in yourself. I have sort of an “eye” for filmmaking / cinematography. I’ve Studied different angle’s, transitioning , lighting ,sound design and color grading. I see things that I know I can make a creative concept to and I create it. I love to study different creative styles or takes a film director would make and put my own spin on them to make it my own. I never went to film school or college ,however I do study everyday on a daily basis on YouTube . Looking up different ways to make something different,I’ve always wanted to be different than the average creator. My very first Videography Client was a Celebrity Anila Sajja from Married2Med on Bravo , She saw my work and wanted to film her mansion and furniture tour. That was a big surprise to me and I was extremely excited to get to film that. I’ve learned lessons from networking with different creators that have the knowledge to give me to apply to my own work. I soak up everything like a sponge and I’m a very fast learner , getting those gems from creative minds alike really boosts my self esteem. One important lesson I learned from someone was don’t be a perfectionist, everything isn’t going to come out perfect or expected and also have patience . The more you try to perfect something the more your work is going to get delayed . I started off as a dancer and filming myself dancing ,making small videos in my mother’s kitchen, or dancing in the middle of the street to Michael Jackson . I never would’ve thought film would be my calling, God has always had this planned for me . It was always my destiny . If it was for my support system I don’t know exactly where I would be. My family has seen my talent since I was a kid. They knew I always had a spark in me . I love them very dearly . I have a horror project coming out which I really feel that it’s going to showcase my Director skills to everyone . Can’t say what it is but if you go on my socials you will see it . But I definitely feel like this will definitely put me on the radar . In a great exciting way and I’m here for it all. I transformed my dancing brand into my own film production ,and my motto for my brand is “Believe in Dreams”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love drinking coffee , My pops and I always go to our favorite coffee shop when he’s in town. It’s kind’ve our Bonding moment per se. We would always get a 16oz coffee or Latte with either banana bread or a huge cake brownie . I know it’s not the healthiest but man my favorite spot makes the absolute best brownies and coffee. I mean i’m obviously not going to tell you guys where my secret coffee spot is because it’s clearly a secret . And I hate long lines lol. I’m a sucker for nature so definitely hiking trails or just walking outside in general are enough for me . Whether it be Atlantas Belt line or Roswell Mill .
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna give a Major shoutout to The GOD Himself , My Family & my Close Friends. Without them pushing me on a daily to go get it , I wouldn’t know where I will be. They constantly tell me “Success is in your future”, I’ve always felt that in me that drive , that passion, that hunger .
It makes me Very happy to know that I have loving people who stand behind me every step of the way . I wouldn’t trade them for anything . My mother especially , she’s always been the one to truly see the light in me . She knows me better than I know myself . she knows the gift I have will bring nothing but good. She loves all of her children with a very very big heart , She struggles so we can have the very best in life . If I fail I will always and I mean always get back up because of her.
