We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyerra Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyerra, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to be patient and don’t rush the process.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am most proud of how far I’ve come, I started out going to cosmetology school full time and working a part time job all while taking care of 2 kids. I worked at multiple salons and ended up opening my very own salon in the middle of a pandemic. My salon is called Style Me Pretty Studio, located in Alton, Illinois. I am also a wig maker, I make custom wigs on the sewing machine and I ship them all over the US. I started off making custom wigs for my mom and I started to post them on social media and my business took off from there. I have been a wigmaker for 5 years and a hairstylist for 8 years. I’ve worked in fashion shows and photo shoots. I am blessed to be able to work at my own business and do something that I love everyday. One thing I learned is to be patient, whatever god has for you is for you. I want to inspire young girls, I want them to see that if I can do it so can they.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would have to go to my amazing support system, my village. I wouldn’t be able to do half of the things that I have accomplished without them. They all go above and beyond for me and my kids. I appreciate them so much.
