We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyara Snelling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel as though the most important factor is consistent quality and client experience. I have made my products and services high quality, reliable and I always strive to meet my clients expectations every time. Building trust and relationships with my clients has increased their loyalty to my business and the referrals I receive through them just by being my true authentic self and always showing up. It’s also vital for me to stay ahead of trends, improve my techniques and set myself apart. Maintaining a reputation for excellence is what keeps clients coming back. I love what I do and that alone defines success for me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my business in November of 2020. I always was into beauty, things like makeup and lashes. In college, I would do cluster lashes on the girls around campus from 2018-2019 just to get my name out there because I knew when I got that refund check that next year, I was going to invest into doing lash extensions. Once I took my class, I started practicing instantly I wasn’t seeing results quick enough so I took some time off to figure out if that was what I wanted to do, but I couldn’t keep a job and I could help to always think about starting lashes back up. I really had to learn how to not quit when the results weren’t coming fast enough and that’s where I officially started taking my business seriously when I came to that realization that consistency is what makes success then boom my clientele went from none to many in my college town. After college graduation in 2022, I rented my first salon suite in a different city from my college town with 0 clientele starting fresh and I picked up clients within 3 months. I have been in school since I started my business and the hardest challenge I face is finding balance between juggling multiple responsibilities from operations to marketing to reading to going to class to taking tests to finding time for myself and my peers on top of maintaining the importance of my business is overwhelming without proper systems. Imposter syndrome kicks in at times and the fear of failure but I remind myself that I have to stay confident in all decisions and remain focused on the goal at hand. I have overcame self doubt and learned how to push through the moments where things don’t go as planned or when I just feel stagnant. I learned that it’s always something to work on or perfect. I am mostly proud of my perseverance and my faith. I have had all the reasons in the world to give up and move on to something that I thought was better but I learned overtime success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. I just want people to know that failures are opportunities and not everyone is going to support you when you get to where you have always desired and it’s okay to leave them on your way up. Showing up fully for my business is what sets me apart, I treat my clients like real people and not dollar signs. I cater and nurture things and people that I love, especially the ones who chooses me when they have a thousand options. I want everyone to know that I didn’t come from a rich family or that anything was given to me. I am the oldest out of 6 kids, I have a reason to set an example and show them that they can do all things. Everything I have, I worked hard for and fought against, but it doesn’t matter your circumstance or situation, never let it define you or determine your destiny only you can do that. My goal is to stay committed to helping women feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. When you look good, you feel even better. Through my work, I strive to empower women to embrace their uniqueness. Feel seen, valued, and empowered once they leave me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have a mixture of personalities, and it always depends on my mood on where I like to hang out but a week long itinerary in would be
Monday- we would relax, drink wine, play card games and have girl talk.
Tuesday- we would be a date full of activities such as ATV riding, zip lining and being adventurous.
Wednesday- we would go do yoga and do something we can learn from such as pottery or maybe a candle class.
Thursday- we would do a spa day, massages, facials and water therapy to relax or mind for the following week.
Friday- we would dress up very nice and go out to a upscale steakhouse and talk about life.
I enjoy doing things that keeps the blood flowing and requires me to socialize and meet other people. Anyone who’s friends with me knows that I never meet a stranger and I’m always spreading love and being kind to all people. I am love. I am light.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give thanks to my family first, whom let me use their home to even create the foundation for my business. Thank you for believing in me and supporting my dreams even when all of my ideas seemed silly. To my friends, your constant support has played a huge role from posting my work, letting me practice and just always mentioning me. To my mentors, Fantasia: Owner of Fantasy Lash, your wisdom, guidance, creativity and belief in my potential has helped me grow in unimaginable ways both personally and professionally. To Ashleigh: Owner of iLashleigh, thank you for introducing me to this industry, your drive and success is what’s driving my growth. Every step I have taken is a reflection of all the knowledge, love and support I’ve received and I couldn’t have done anything without any of you.
