We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Turner aka KT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KT, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I have found that most clients do not understand the difference between a mortgage broker and a bank or direct/retail lender. The easiest way to understand the difference is this: A mortgage broker can find the loan a client needs without the internal limitations or liabilities that a bank or retail lender may restrict on themselves. Also, because a mortgage broker has less overhead, I can typically save a client money through the rate and closing costs in comparison to a bank, credit union or retail lender.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Helping people find the right loan is so important. Not over extending clients is something I analyze. I want to help them buy a home that will be wise financially and/or affordable. This is a way for me to better any community that the house resides in. If people avoid bankruptcy or financial hardship because they are in the “right” mortgage is something I place a very high value on. I also understand that homeownership leads to financial legacy. It can be handed down and enrich the lives of generations to come.

My path in the mortgage industry has been a rollercoaster. I have been in the industry for 9 years and have experienced a lot. I started at a retail lender and then managed a small broker shop that was eventually sold which led me to start my own company. My whole journey has allowed me to learn so much. I would not trade anything I’ve experienced. It has been hard but worth it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to an Atlanta United game. I am a season ticket holder and I love the sport. I played my whole life. The games are awesome and Mercedes Benz is beautiful. I would take them to the Atlanta Beltline to ride electric bikes or scooters and stop at one of the restaurants for lunch. Downtown Woodstock (where my office is located) is full of life. A restaurant/venue called Madlife is great for a concert and food because they have great coverbands and it is always lively on a friday or saturday night. If it is Braves season, then a game at Truist Park is great because the battery is a great experience. I would take them to Superica for a meal because their tacos are next level. Afterwards we wold go to Burn by Rocky Patel for a cigar and cocktail. We would also go to NFA burger. It is the best cheeseburger in Atlanta and it is attached to a gas station. We would hike both Stone mountain and Kennesaw mountain. Go paddleboarding at Ropemill park in Woodstock. Lastly playing a round of Golf at the many amazing Golf courses that Atlanta has to offer would be a must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents absolutely deserve a shoutout. My dad has been in corporate sales his whole career and been very successful. He is a VP of sales for a company that has 8,000 employees and generates a billion in revenue each year. But even more than his success is the consistent guidance and encouragement from both my parents. They are my #1 fans. My faith in God keeps me grounded and is my #1 reason for my success. I have been able to navigate a very bumpy industry because of my faith. I have tried doing it all on my own and it does not work. Lastly, my team is amazing. Megan, Katie and Libby are the best and Clear Path mortgage would not exist without them.
