We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristy Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristy, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
In 2013 I had a heart attack while playing tennis. I was severely overweight and had adopted bad eating habits over the years. When my cardiologist stated I would have another attack unless I changed, I decided to start cooking heart healthy meals. I shared them with others in hopes they would adopt this lifestyle of eating as well. When people ate my food they commented how beautifu my dishes were and how everything taste good. They offered to pay me to meal prep for them. The word quickly spread and people were knocking my door down for meal prep as well as catering. Exercise and training is a part of lifestyle transformation. Food and fitness is my passion and I know there is a nitch for both so I leaned into it with my whole heart.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always known that I am a creative. Even as a little girl my imagination allowed me to dream and create beautiful spaces. I love creating things that will remain in someone’s memory forever. Utilizing bright colors or unique objects has a special effect. When you see my food artistry rather it’s on your plate or a large display I use things that will make your eyes perk up and bring a smile to your face. I am most proud of the memories I help create through my food artistry. I am excited to see people’s face light up when they see my food art. I arrived in this space today by believing in my creativity. Not being afraid to think outside of the box. The challenge in this field is finding people to trust your vision and give you complete creative control. I share my vision with my clients always ensuring to incorporate what is most meaningful to them. It’s a collaborative effort. Some of my biggest lessons has come from my mistakes. Every job i do I seek to do it better the next time. I also take in a lot of feedback to help me see the bigger picture. I want the world to know that small businesses can make a big impact if given the chance. I want the world to experience a food journey that is beautiful food, food that is good for you and my positive approach to teaching each individual how to expand their palate. My story is simple I love to find unique ingredients and create dishes that you will remember and it brings a smile to your face.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would take several hikes during the week. Brasstown Bald hike to highest point in Georgia and of course Stone Mountain Park. For entertainment the Painted Duck for bowling and games, open mic and live music at Kat’s Cafe and for culture we would go to High Musuem. Now eating would unforgettable. I would take her to the Buford’s International Farmer’s Market where we would pick some fresh foods for my signature dishes. Use our visit as an educational way to expose her to foods that are good for her health and something I can turn into an amazing dish. With that being said, outside of my signature dishes right from my kitchen here are a few spots I would take her, Kura revoving sushi bar, best quaint spot for cuban breakfast Buena Gente Cuban Bakery, R. Thomas Grille, Thrill Korena Steak and Bar, VeGreen Vegan Fusion, Delbar Middle Eastern and one of my favorite chefs Marcus Samuelsson restaurant Marcus Bar & Grille.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to every woman who ever gave up on health and fitness and was told you are not enough, this is for you. YOU ARE ENOUGH! You determine what your contributions will be and you create the blueprint for how it looks.
