Meet Kristina Svirskaite | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristina Svirskaite and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristina, why did you pursue a creative career?
After spending many years in the corporate world, I found myself consistently drawn to the creative side of my work. Whether I was photographing marketing events, contributing to advertising, or supporting new campaigns, I naturally gravitated toward visual storytelling. Photography was always a constant in my life. I always had a camera with me, especially while traveling solo for work.
Photography gave me a sense of confidence and connection. It allowed me to explore new places with ease, meet new people, and capture their stories in an authentic way. That experience shaped how I see the world and continues to influence my work today.
My path into newborn photography began after I became a mother. It was a turning point that helped me recognize the deeper value of what I do. I realized I could use my passion to create something meaningful for other families. The early days of a child’s life pass so quickly, and being able to preserve those moments for parents is incredibly special to me.
Today, as an Atlanta newborn photographer with Kristina Sv Photography, I have the opportunity to combine artistry with purpose. I create timeless imagery for families, something they can hold onto and revisit for years to come. Building a business around what I love while providing lasting value to others has been both rewarding and inspiring.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always known that I wanted to photograph families, with a special focus on motherhood. So often, moms are the ones behind the camera and rarely present in the images themselves. From the beginning, it was important to me to change that. My goal has been to ensure that mothers are not only included, but beautifully and authentically represented alongside their children.
It took time to refine my specialty because I truly loved photographing everything. As my work evolved, I found myself drawn more and more to in-home newborn photography. There is something incredibly meaningful about capturing those quiet, everyday moments. The soft interactions, the laughter, the stillness, and the connection between parents and their new baby. That is where my heart is.
What sets my approach apart is the balance I offer. I combine lifestyle photography with a studio element, all within the comfort of my clients’ homes. Most of the session is focused on natural, candid storytelling, but I also bring a simple, clean setup for timeless newborn portraits. My clients do not have to choose between documentary-style images and classic portraits. They receive both in one cohesive experience.
My journey was not immediate or easy. Like many creatives, I spent time exploring, learning, and defining my direction. Building confidence in my style and trusting my vision were some of the biggest challenges. Over time, I learned to focus on what truly resonates with me rather than trying to do everything.
One of the most important lessons I have learned is that meaningful work comes from authenticity. When you create from a place that genuinely reflects who you are, the right clients connect with it.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is that my work is rooted in intention. I am not just taking photos. I am preserving a chapter of life that deserves to be remembered, with care, honesty, and a sense of calm.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a mom of three boys, most of our activities revolve around spending time together as a family. So when I have friends or family visiting from Europe, I like to create an itinerary that reflects how we truly experience Atlanta day to day.
One of my first stops is always Food Terminal on Buford Highway. I love their incredible food and the beautifully designed visual menu. It is always a fun and memorable experience, especially for visitors trying something new.
For a more relaxed evening, we usually do takeout from Mamak Kitchen. Malaysian cuisine has such a unique and bold flavor profile, and it is consistently delicious. It is one of those go-to spots that never disappoints.
We always make time to get outside, and I love taking guests to Arabia Mountain. Even after traveling across the country, I still feel like there is nothing quite like it. It is peaceful, unique, and a perfect way to experience nature close to the city.
And of course, a visit is not complete without stopping by the Buford Highway Farmers Market. It is such a vibrant place with an incredible variety of international foods and ingredients. It feels like traveling the world in one stop.
For me, the best way to experience Atlanta is through its diversity, its food, and the simple moments spent together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shoutout to my dad, who first introduced me to photography. Some of my earliest memories are of watching him take photos and develop film in our tiny storage closet. I was fascinated watching images appear in the solution right in front of me. It felt almost like magic. He was also the one who gave me my first film camera when I was in middle school, which stayed with me more than I realized at the time.
I also want to recognize my mom, who played a pivotal role years later. After I had my first child, she watched me photographing my newborn and asked a simple question: “If you love this so much, why don’t you do it for others?”
It was such a simple moment, but it completely shifted my perspective. Everything clicked. It felt like an epiphany, as if something that had always been part of my life finally came into focus.
Looking back, photography had always been there. I just needed that moment of clarity to fully step into it.
