We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristie & Christopher Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristie & Christopher, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly my husband and I took a “big risk” we took extra money in our savings account and decided to purchase 2 bounce houses a variety of concession stands along with tables, tents and chairs we thought that it would be a great idea to make extra money during the summer to help off set some of our summer vacation expenses we never thought that it would turn into a actual party rental business that would eventually lead us to event decor services and venue rentals
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We the only husband and wife team of event planners & venue owners in our hometown of Valdosta Ga. We are very proud that we have been able to break into an industry that isn’t very easy to penetrate in a small town where you’re not well known and be successful in doing so. we have not only been able to break into the industry but we have been blessed enough to be able to expand our business opening multiple venues. It was definitely one of the hardest things we have done but we prayed and stayed focused on the end goal and in the situations were certain things wouldn’t work we went back to the drawing board asking god to order our steps. We have learned a plethora of things in the event planning industry but the most important thing for us would be to balance you have to create a happy medium with work life balance we have 5 kids and for us it is equally important to be great parents as well as great business owners and balance is they key. We would like the world to know to never give up on your dreams if you keep God first stay focused anything is possible it worked for us at FTPR EVENT PLANNING & VENUES with the odds stacked against us it can work for you
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely enjoy downtown Valdosta I would say stop by downtown social and enjoy some of the things they have to offer maybe grab some food from from Big Nicks
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Coming from very humble beginnings my husband and I both saw our mothers work extremely hard to provide for there children and wanted to make sure that we did the same for our children so we would like to give the biggest thanks to our mothers Lavonda Anderson & Pamela Jenkins along with My grand parents Clarence & Sarah Burgman who always reminds us to keep god first in all that we do
