We had the good fortune of connecting with Kris Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kris, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I’m pretty persistent in general, and that determination played a major part in me completing my first book “Leaving Your Mind to Find Yourself.” There were so many pitfalls from unexpected, expensive costs, to issues with publishing; my determination and persistence is what kept me going when I wanted to just say “forget this!”. I stayed focused on my ‘why.’ I started this book to help someone who may be embarking on a similar spiritual journey, and has just as many questions and uncomfortable feelings. as I did, with little resources.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ironically, I’ve never seen myself as a “creative.” I’ve always been the type of person who loved to be around creatives because I love the way their minds work and get to live vicariously through them. I’ve only recently moved into the creative space to share my story. I do believe what creatives and “professionals” have in common is a level of determination that is essential to moving up. Whether jumping over hurdles when publishing my book or feeling out of a place as the first black accountant at a billion dollar flooring company, there will always be hurdles, the key is the persistence, deciding how bad you want something, and not compromising your morals on the journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting…and I had an abundance of energy to entertain, we’d probably start the day with a hike up Kennesaw mountain, shower then brunch at Breakfast at Barney’s. After we’d probably walk and potentially shop at little five points and end the day with a rooftop dinner spot

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support system. I have a support system of amazing women, friends and family, who have shown up for me every single time I’ve ever needed them to show up. They support every venture, idea, and achievement, and cheer for me when I can’t do it for myself.
