We had the good fortune of connecting with Kisha Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kisha, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
In my twenties, I pursued the “American Dream” to some degree. Right after high school, I became an apprentice at a high-end hair salon in an affluent area of Atlanta. I had a thriving career as a hairstylist, as well as a platform artist at hair shows, a salon educator for several professional hair companies with experience in product development. I had my son at the age of 20. I bought my first house with my son’s father at the age of 23. We had new cars, picket fence, etc. My schedule was hectic. I worked full-time behind-the-chair, plus traveled for work while also being a young mom, and fiance. I was fortunate enough to be able to bring my son to work with me and watch him play from my salon chair. My mother did nails in the salon. My sister and aunt worked in the daycare, so my son was always well cared for, but I was unhappy and exhausted in pursuit of this “ideal dream”. I recall telling myself that when my son was going to middle school, I wanted to be home and available more.

At the age of thirty, I pursued my soul’s desire to be of greater purpose and help others. This desire or “inner knowing” to be of service had been a calling since I was a child, so I enrolled in massage school. During this time, I also became trained and certified in massage therapy, neuromuscular therapy, reflexology, the ancient healing art known as Reiki, as well as Intuitive Development. I also studied Oriental Medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine). My daily schedule became more flexible in this phase of my life after graduation, and I was able to set my own hours while working as an independent contractor in spas, and as a spiritual teacher in a popular metaphysical bookstore. Setting my own work hours allowed me to be home more, which was my intention set from years before.

Now, in my forties, I feel like I’ve done it all already! I had the career, house, kid, cars, marriage (sort of), then found my soul’s purpose and pursued that successfully too! At this point I have so much freedom, and love living the “soft life”. I am not married, have no pets, live by myself in a quiet neighborhood and am an empty nester while my son is away at college completing his senior year. I have more time available to pursue the next level of my soul’s desires. And I’m enjoying it. I love what I do, the clients and students I work with, and best of all I get to do it in calm, relaxing environments.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In my practice, I offer several healing modalities. I can work on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of a client which makes me very dynamic in my abilities. This allows me to have a broad range in which I can treat and guide others on their journey. I offer various forms of bodywork such as massage therapy, reflexology and acupressure. I also offer energy work services such as intuitive readings, chakra balancing, aura cleansing, and Reiki as well. I use my intuitive gifts to cater to my clients needs in the best way possible. I also offer private Reiki Practitioner Trainings, as well as Intuitive Development classes.

I decided to open up my own business in order to have more control of my schedule. It was a bit scary at first, but I’m in a facility surrounded by supportive professionals like chiropractors, massage therapist, nutritionist and an acupuncturist which made the transition easy. If it’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s time management. I’m learning to use my time and energy more wisely to honor my body and energy levels which creates more balance in my day-to-day living.

I want the world to know that I am honored to be here in humble service. I offer in-person and virtual appointments depending on the service. My healing and teaching style is down-to-earth, relatable, therapeutic yet enlightening. From what I’ve been told, I have a very relaxing presence, am funny, and bring light to those I am able to work with. Majority of my clients leave our sessions saying they feel “lighter”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting for a week, they would have a blast! First on the menu, a spa day! Lunch and dinners would include my favorite Thai (Red Curry Thai), Japanese (Fudo or Sushi Yoshino) or Korean (Han Il Kwan) restaurants. I have a few American-fusion spots I enjoy too like LaGarde American Eatery. For a lively brunch or night out, we’d probably go visit my sister at Blue Martini in Buckhead.

One of my favorite places in Atlanta is the High Museum and SCAD Fashion & Film Museum. The High Museum hosts Friday Night Jazz and Frequency Friday events with live music or a dj, food, drinks and access to current exhibitions. SCAD has the most gorgeous roof-top with a great view of the city. For other fun stuff, I’ll more than likely check-in with my business partner, who has her hands in a few events around town like The Groove, for an all-night, all decades R&B party. “Artsy-stuff” will more than likely be on the agenda, along with plenty of down-time to just hang, catch up and laugh.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I credit several people and groups to my success. I am grateful for the Horizon Center for Intuitive Awareness for their teachings, trainings and support in my personal growth and spiritual development. I am grateful for the Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore for providing the space and place to share and expand greater into my intuitive gifts, becoming the spiritual teacher, mentor and psychic I am today. I am grateful for Gwinnett College of Sandy Springs for the thorough and professional training that helped me to fully understand the human body, its systems and holistic ways of healing mind, body and spirit. It was in these groups where I was able to build a strong foundation in my knowledge, wisdom, experience and network/community.
