We had the good fortune of connecting with Kirmari Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kirmari, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business came about when my Fiance and I were talking about me creating my own path as a dancer. Dancing is my passion and I love African dance styles and I wanted people to learn about it and receive some of the personal benefits that I received from it. So since Orlando didn’t have many African classes I figured instead of being upset about it, I can use that to my advantage. I started teaching classes, choreographing, and performing through my business LIVE2MOVE.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Through LIVE2MOVE I teach Afro Fusion classes which is a blend of African and some Caribbean dance styles. Most of my classes are for beginner level so I am literally getting some people out of their comfort zone and showing them different ways to move. It is so funny because in the beginning of the class many people have a look of uncertainty on their face but by the end of the class they are smiling and enjoying themselves. I love that! One thing that sets me apart from others is that I have the ability to teach all ages and levels.

I am proud of the connections I’ve made with people through LIVE2MOVE. I’ve been able to bring positivity to others as well as help them on their personal journeys. It is extremely rewarding!

Honestly, if it wasn’t for the connections and support of others I wouldn’t be where I am today. I also continue to learn ways to grow my business as well as market it so that others can know more about it. It can be challenging at times but it’s worth it!

LIVE2MOVE is my business that allows me to share my passion of Afro Fusion dance with others. I provide services such as performing and teaching classes which gives people the opportunity to take African dance classes in Orlando. The classes are judgement free and are for people of all ages, abilities, and levels . The classes are energetic, fun, and positive for both physical and mental health.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many things to do in Orlando and I am still exploring myself. The theme parks are always fun and for people of all ages. I would also recommend the ferris wheel at Icon park. You will see a beautiful view at the top.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to make a shoutout to my Fiance Jerry! He is a huge part of my success. He has been and continues to be extremely supportive of me during this journey in so many ways and I truly appreciate him.

I also want to shoutout all my friends, family, and all the people who have been supportive of me and my business. I don’t just mean the people who attended class because support comes in many forms. So for those who gave me resources, helped me build my brand/ business, gave me a listening ear to express my concerns, shared my name with others and things like that as well as attended my classes, hired me, allowed me to make a home for my classes, I appreciate you! Thank you all so much!!
