We had the good fortune of connecting with KingTru and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KingTru, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be that I was a pure Musical Genius & King of R&B!

Currently I’m building a music career that’s super solid and uniquely different. I am changing the entire music industry and how we create and understand music. I want people to remember me for all the good works and kind deeds I poured back into my people and communities with. Artists coming up under me will have different and better opportunities. They will be treated with more respect and given more knowledge. The music that once was grabbing us has left, I’m bringing back the vibe and drizzling soul on it! I want to be remembered as the most sought after artist/songwriter in the world… My platform as an artist and manager will help create an entirely new genre and vibe for the industry!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This process has been hard lol, but worth it! I had to grow tough skin quickly. I wasn’t prepared to hear “no thanks” so often. I would walk into clubs and lounges and ask how to perform and be asked if I could even sing… Once the show would start, I’d find my way near the side of the stage and sing. I’d go into my own world and sing a long until the performers themselves asked me to come up and sing with them or they’d lower the band to hear me blow notes in the corner stage. After singing I left, each and every time. Club owners caught on and started seeking me out! It was my confidence and skills! I taught them how to treat me without being rude or disrespectful. A lot of people tried to give advice, but it didn’t work for my career or me as a person. I did what was best for me! People made fun of me, and laughed in my face when I said I’m “The New KING of R&B”, and then I showed them why and left them in my inbox on read!

I released my first album “Naked Truth” in the Fall of 2021 and it shined light on me that I wasn’t even expecting. Offers came in and labels started chatting… I went from creating and recording a theme song for my restaurant to becoming a National Recording Artist. I’m currently in the process of writing and recording my sophomore album “Crown Me” which is set to release Spring 2022.

This album is so different! It’s the VIBE you’ve missed and always craved! Soulful ballads, Pop, funk, R&B, with gospel undertones… I’m sincerely excited about my elevation and what God has in store for the future health and wealth of my musical career! I can’t wait to show the world the creator inside. To release and infuse a brand new sound and vibe of music into the world and help pave a way for new artists, my pleasure.

I’m so excited to allow my music to change the industry. I want my hands in so many different things and areas. I don’t always need to sing the HIT song, I’ll write it. Let me be apart of greatness in every way I can. Positive vibes and soulful creations with God providing favor!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, honestly I haven’t really been here long, but….

Ten ATL Monday’s are an entire vibe and the social scene is worth the travel into the city. The vibe is absolutely EVERYTHING and the music keeps my spirit singing

Order in a delicious meal from Tastebudz Infusions which creates gourmet on the go meals! They deliver right to your doorstep or the private chef comes to cook at your location!

My friends are always looking for a dope music space, so Stankonia Studio & Patchwerk Recording Studios is the move for me…

Never been a big clubber, but Fusion Sports Lounge is always lit and the ladies are serving strong drinks and sexy energy!

If you want a safe area to stay in, then ditch Buckhead and come up north to Alpharetta. The crime is lower and the money is just as long!

Don’t forget to stop by the Botanical Gardens and take in the scenery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Grandparents and biological mother were very instrumental in my music background. My Granny was a singer and songwriter, and my Granddaddy is a church organist. My biological mother is a singer also. My Granddaddy taught me everything he could about music, every chance he got! Played records and nurtured my musical abilities. My Granny and mother groomed my vocals!
