We had the good fortune of connecting with King Zahc R and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi King, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m From Rochester, New York and grew up in Atlanta on the soufside, Lovejoy/Jonesboro area. An as far as the impact these two cities gave me as a artist plays a major roll in the artist I am today. Rochester, NY is who I am and Atlanta is what I represent. It’s like Rochester is the body of me and Atlanta is the blood inside me if that makes any sense.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The one thing I’m most proud of with my art is that I didn’t ever give up on myself or my music. In music there are a lot of obstacles starting out. A lot of learning too. I’m excited for my next body of work coming soon and watching it all after the work is done, there’s a peace in it for me. I got where I’m at professionally by being over curious on how things work and what I needed to record myself really. It wasn’t easy, after realizing no producer or engineer I worked with starting out, never told me everything I needed fully to be successful with recording my own music. So I would have to come back to them to record my songs. I learned fast to do your homework on what you want in life, no one will hand you anything.
Things I want the world to know is this, you can not live with “what if, or I could of been, or if I had of.” Chase your dream and let nothing stand in the way of your energy and happiness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from the soufside of Atlanta so I’m pretty simple. But first things first your going to want to eat, an I love breakfast, so the best spot for a nice breakfast in the mornings is at “Two Eggs!” Restaurant on 557 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA. We got to hit Lenox and Southlake mall & Tanger outlet
Skating and “Cascade” or “Skate Zone”
An most of my friends play basketball so you know it’s Home Court Advantage at the “Lovejoy Community Center Blacktop.”
I have a lot of friends that Model and do photography so I end up at @HouseOfArtATL
For night life, we’d go to Compound ATL. An we got to eat at “cookout” right after.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a lot of people responsible for the artist I am today. First and foremost God. The two people that believed in me From my start of just rapping, MJ & Moe my two ordest brothers. My “Skuuu King Generalz” Family on the Soufside of ATL. My mentors Teresa Web & “Prentice Powell.” Colleg Vocal coach Timothy R. Tucker. College collegiate Choir Director Dr. Karliss Chapple And my beloved HBCU Philander Smith College for believing in a young Kid from the soufside of Atlanta. My company StudioMindz.ENT & My Management @MoeDimesmng.
