We had the good fortune of connecting with King Roy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi King, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
As cliché as this may sound, I personally feel that you should NEVER give up. Think about it: every thing you do in life starts with an idea. If you thought the idea was good enough to turn it into an action, THEN THAT SHOULD BE A GOOD ENOUGH REASON TO NOT GIVE UP ON IT! Don’t get me wrong, everyone has those days when things just aren’t going as planned: maybe that product isn’t selling or maybe your brand isn’t getting the exposure that you think it deserves. Don’t look at that as an opportunity to give up, instead look at it as a chance to rethink, rebrand, and renovate: BUT NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
When it comes to me, I feel like it’s my determination and mindset that sets me apart from others. It’s my drive! It’s the simple fact that I KNOW that one day I’ll be successful BUT I must continue on this road in order to. Just thinking about my future excites me. So far in my career, I’ve learned so many lessons about business and also about life in general. One of the most important being “to never be afraid to make mistakes”. I understand that you can learn so much from the mistakes you make. And with that knowledge, get better and make better decisions. I would like the world to know that is only the beginning for me and my brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the City of Savannah, there are so many great spots to eat at. For example, if my friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I’d take them to have breakfast at one of the hottest breakfast spots in the city, 2 Chefs Southern Kitchen. Then, we’d head over to 520 Tavern or stop at Newman’s Catering Co. LLC for some lunch. After that, we’ll cool everything down with some treats from Fabusweetz or maybe Nitra Sweets. Then to end the day off, we’ll hire PEAVLEY’s Catering to cook us up a good meal for dinner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to thank God! Secondly, I would like to thank my father, siblings, and family. The values and lessons they’ve taught me throughout life is the reason I am who I am today. Lastly, I would like to shoutout my hometown, Savannah, GA! I never really understood the phrase “It takes a village” until a couple years ago and my village [Savannah, GA] is definitely a special one!
