We had the good fortune of connecting with King Mydas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi King, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ever since childhood I’ve been creative and artistic. From the moment I could hold a pencil, I could draw and create art. I can remember sitting in class just bored out of my mind, sketching comic book characters all over my desk, hoping the teacher never called on me. Art has always been something I’ve been great at, to the point of wanting a career as a cartoonist. I’ve always been intrigued with the art of animation. Being able to create your own reality is something I still to this day incorporate in my daily life. To be able to take your imagination wherever you want it to go, and to give it life is beyond happiness.

Although art was my first love, music quickly trumped my passion for art around the age of 14 when I discovered Bow Wow (Lil Bow Wow then). Yes, I said it! Bow Wow was the catalyst for my introduction to the music industry. I couldn’t believe that a kid (Bow Wow was 13 at the time) was on television rapping with one of my favorite rappers alive (Snoop Dogg). It made me feel like I could do the same thing, so shoutout to Bow Wow (Shad Moss). If I never saw him, who knows if I would have gotten bit by the music bug. I was so impressed and inspired that I asked my grandfather for a keyboard. Being the amazing grandparent that he was, he purchased my first keyboard for my 15 birthday. I had zero talent with music production clearly in the beginning, and it took many years to master the art.

Music for me has begun a refuge, a place of safety. I’ve tried running from it and pursuing other things but the love I have for music, keeps bring me back to it. Music is a great way of understanding a person and other people’s happiness, sadness, argue, fear, jealousy, etc. Whatever the emotion is that we need to feel, music definitely helps a person to sit down and just feel whatever is happening.

As a producer, I want to challenge the status quo in Charlotte’s music scene by launching my own production label. With TraxStar Music Group (TMG), my vision is to redefine the Charlotte sound while launching the careers of versatile and talented emerging artists. My aim to be the first music producer with the ambition to start a major independent label that not only produces beats but maintains its own roster of artists, joining other local labels like Billion Dollar Baby Ent., and South Coast Music Group. Unlike my peer labels, I want to broaden the scope of TMG’s sound beyond rap, which includes R&B and Pop influences.

No other label, especially in the Carolinas, is doing what I’m doing. There are zero R&B and Pop artists, highlighted in the Carolinas. We want TraxStar to be the home for the best R&B and Pop artist in the Coastal Carolina region and eventually the world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m proud of all my accomplishments thus far. I’m currently collaborating with an artist out of Atlanta, GA by the name of Big B, aka, Big Boss Blossom. She’s a dope artist and is going to have one of the hottest Ep’s out when it drops. I love working with artist of any genre,,,if I can produce it, we can make magic. I’m also in the process of adding artist to my roster. I had to purge my roster during 2021 due to “conflicts of interest”. 2022 is the year of Traxstar Music Group.

Traxstar Music will be the home for all Pop and RnB artist (mainly). I will eventually incorporate other genres such as: Hip Hop and I even want some Country artist on board as well.

I’ve always had an entrepreneur mindset, even since a child. I’ve always wanted to have my own regardless of what I have to do. I took a few business classes in college but you really don’t know business until you start doing it.

Obviously, you want your business to be a success. How you define success depends on a number of personal factors. Assuming you’ve been in the workforce for awhile, you know what kind of lifestyle you can afford on your current income. If you’re like most people, you’d probably like to earn more. Many people feel that self-employment is the way to do it.

On the other hand, if you’re just starting out and prefer running your own business, these factors probably won’t affect your decision to any great extent.

Traxstar Music Group is an independently owned, African American production label founded in 2021 by “King Mydas”, chief executive officer and executive producer. The label’s affiliate artists are going to be among the most popular in the music industry. Traxstar’s success as an independent production company is virtually undeniable and unparalleled.

Traxstar Music Group offers “shopping deals” to unsigned artist under which they would have a limited time to find a suitable label deal for the artist. Traxstar is all about the artist. The artist comes FIRST and will be under the guidance and protection of TMG.

“Traxstar is going to be the label of the FUTURE. No other label is doing what I am trying and going to do. We are going to support Hip Hop, R&B and Pop artist…come 1, come all. None of my artist will sound the same, look the same or feel the same. Traxstar is a family before anything else.” – King Mydas

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve only been in Charlotte since 2015 and I really haven’t been out and about like I’ve wanted too. There’s tons of spot in the Charlotte metro area that are wonderful places to visit.

Traxstar Music Group is going to be the centerpiece of the Coastal Carolina region and eventually the world. I want people to come here for us.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank myself first of all. I know this might be arrogant but I never pat myself on the back for all my accomplishments. I thank myself for never given up, focusing on my craft and continuing to stay driven, even when life gets hard. Life gets hard but hard is never impossible.
