Meet King Iven | Celebrity DJ & Creative Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with King Iven and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi King, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without risks, the unknown will be impossible. Risks and being uncomfortable is what drives the leaders of the world and it’s what drives me. I personally believe in organized and minimized risks that turn into great success. One can have an idea and implement certain steps to bring this idea to market based on past experiences and expertise that will minimize risks. Yes, there are some losses when taking on risks but the ROI on risks are even greater when you make the unknown known and your idea is being accepted my many. I implement risks in every move I make, not only to stay ahead of competitors but to gain the highest rewards possible.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It was a growing process. I’m nowhere near the point of success I want to be, but I see it in my near future. Early in my career, I saw myself as a connector in the entertainment industry. I had a passion for building platforms for the best talent to become noticed. Before I could build my empire, I knew I had to become the talent myself to understand the needs of the industry. My biggest challenge early in my career was not knowing when to pivot when needed and not knowing when to say no. When I felt the brand was starting to dilute, I took time away to travel and immerse myself in other great experiences to refresh the brand.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m relatively new to the city so I’ll give it my best based on personal experiences. Atlanta is busy and filled with plenty to do. I would like to lay out several food options including breakfast at Barneys, Breakfast boys, Slutty Vegan, a few spots at the Ponce City Market, and of course my favorite Divan Restaurant in midtown. We aren’t the most significant clubbers anymore but we love lounges. If there aren’t any festivals, we will hit The James Room, Politan Row, and Rocksteady, which are my usual go-to’s. For daytime activities it’ll be the gym, a hike at stone mountain, shopping at five points, and biking on the belt line.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my Grandmother for believing and investing in whatever idea I had as a child. My high school coaches for pushing me to push myself. DJ Quest Flavor, my DJ mentor. Marc Barnes for making me a better businessman. And 2 books, The “4 hour work week” and BRRRR. The 4 hour work week gave me the mentality to set aside time to enjoy life and gain inspiration through travel. BRRRR, a real estate investment book, showed me how to work with teams and create value through real estate. I took this concept to apply to life and personal business ventures.
