Meet Kimberly Lee | Salon Owner/ Licensed Stylist and Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Yes of course, when I opened the doors to Bella cheveux Salon I did not do it alone, I had a partner that quit the day after our grand opening. Many thoughts ran through my mind but I had to remind myself of my dreams and goals. I had to imagine my life without working my passion, what would I do, how would I feel. I had to tell myself that giving up is not an option.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Licensed Cosmetologist, Salon Owner and Educator. My Love and Passion is the beauty industry. Education and keeping up with the latest trends is vital in this industry. I do a lot of research attend seminars/ classes to make sure we are providing our clients with the best salon experience. There are time when we have to tell our clients No, because we believe if their hair is not in a healthy state for a service such as chemicals, weave, extensions…etc the service should be postponed until we acheive a healthy head and scalp. Our core value is integrity. I have accomplished some goals, opening the salon, starting my own product line Beautiful Crowns growth serum and Beautiful Crown Hair Camp, now my focus is the school. God is within me I can not fail.
It has not been an easy but my trust in God, hard work, dedication, along with family and friends that wont let me quit made it a bit easier. It’s truly been a walk of faith running the salon trying to find like minded stylist with the same love and passion for the industry as you do. Did I think about giving up. Yes, there were many times I questioned myself, but each time I had the thought I realized there is nothing else I desired to do. I honestly put my trust in God only he could keep the salon doors opens and send the clients. I believe praying over your business and your employees is the best thing one can do. The way to overcoming the thoughts the negative thongs you tell yourself is prayer and belief in myself, speaking positive over myself and business. I’ve learned to be humble to always remain teachable, to be a blessing to others utilizing every opportunity to give back.
What I want the world to know is that our Goal is to raise the bar in the beauty industry and elevate hairdressing as a valued professional career. We are black owned hair salon that focus on maintaining the integrity of the Hair and scalp but most importantly our customers experience is of the utmost importance.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting first stop would be to my salon to get her dolled up cause of course I have to put my anointed hands in her head. My favorite breakfast/Brunch place is Barneys in Atlanta, so we would definitely go there. Oh and for lunch I would have to take her to Slutty Vegan and dinner would have to be seafood. I absolutely love the beach we would spend majority of her visit there. We love to laugh so a comedy club would be a place to go and Axe Throwing, bowling is a go to as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

She always believed in me and wanted nothing but the best for me may she RIP. My husband Clinton and Children Jasmine, kyle and Kylah for their love, support and push my critics lol.
