We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Houston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, is there something you believe many others might not?
Making safe choices is the best route of action. I totally disagree with this because growth doesn’t happen in safe choices.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a Le Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef, that is actively involved with the Junior League of Atlanta. Over the past two years during the pandemic, I was forced into pivoting my business. I suffered a life-changing injury in November of 2020, that ushered me into a new life of influence. I launched my recipe creation/food photography business in 2020, while simultaneously completing a few online Masterclasses. For a decade I have shared my gifts and talents with kids in the kitchen. Even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to work with kids in the kitchen in the same capacity post-pandemic, I took the charge to write a textbook specifically designed for children to learn how to bake.
Launching the TeachMeHowToBake website and textbook was a passion project I enjoyed bringing to life. It wasn’t necessarily easy, but it was a necessary YES in my life. Understanding that my YES to this project will influence children and teachers all over the world made the project worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to downtown Woodstock. Even though I live well over an hour away, there are lots of shops and delicious restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of shooting menus for as a food photographer. I think it’s the best-kept secret for the folks living up there, but not so much for others. Being able to walk around the downtown area and visit the shops, walk-up restaurant windows and just take in the live music happening in various areas makes for a beautiful weekend afternoon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This season of my life is dedicated my business coach, Cait Blakley and my kids, Marshall and Cherrie-Amaya
