We had the good fortune of connecting with Kileigh Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kileigh, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk-taking is how I established success for myself, and it also created failures. I am a calculated risk-taker. I binge on all the information I believe I will need before I am confident enough to leap into the unknown. However, my life sort of trained me to be this way. As a teenager, I dreamed of being an entrepreneur and loved the thrill of risking my life freefalling in the air after being tossed by my cheerleading teammates. I realized recently that my role as a Flyer as a cheerleader is a metaphor for my career.
As I progressed through life, I accomplished my dream of being an entrepreneur by quitting jobs, betting on my confidence and abilities, and leaping into the abyss of entrepreneurship without knowing where my next dollar would come from. I launched my businesses in Fashion & Digital Marketing just like I would when I sprung into the brown locked arms of the girls on my team. I stood on a solid foundation and allowed it to propel me into the world.
Sometimes I would hit the performance perfectly, and sometimes I would hit the ground! But one thing I always did was get back up and try again. That’s what being an entrepreneur is about & to do this, I had to be a risk-taker.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an Artist and Creative, but I am also a Businesswoman. I am most proud of my ability to bring my dreams to reality! The main reason why I chose this profession stems from my excitement about freedom, early retirement, and financial stability. Entrepreneurship is one of the best ways to achieve this, but entrepreneurship is not easy by any means. Even though I am good at business, it doesn’t necessarily mean I always enjoy it. The hardest thing about where I am today is balancing hustling and creating. Doing business in an industry, you are passionate about can often take the fun out of it.
I look forward to entirely focusing on creating art and enjoying my time with ease without hustling for my next check every day. Recently, I learned that I would need more discipline and structure in my life to achieve this, and I’m not too fond of rules, so this shall be interesting.
By the time I accomplish these goals, the world will know me as a multifaceted woman who put in the work young to live without worrying about the future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t live in Atlanta. However, 9/10, I would be convincing my friend that we should get out of the US and visit Tulum or something for the weekend. If you haven’t been, please put it on your bucket list.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course, Ms. Cindy. She always would share a vision of me being a Fashion Designer with my name in light[s]. I would always tell her that I didn’t think that was my [lane] when it always has been in reality. She was always so supportive and caring towards me, and I am forever grateful for her wisdom and listening ear when I needed it.
Additionally, many others have been a part of my success, including John JNL Leon, Shawn (Only Up), Mr. Peewee, Ms. Keeley, Richard Bauman, Chelsea (my gorgeous little sister), and my mom Tracy Thorpe Scott.
