Hi Kika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my own business, my thought process was deeply influenced by my desire for independence and a better life for myself and my child. After surviving a challenging period of abuse and adversity, I was determined to take control of my destiny. I recognized a gap in the wellness industry for assisted stretching, something I was passionate about, and saw it as an opportunity to innovate and help others.

I began Kika stretch Studios with just $500, driven by a vision to create a space that not only promoted physical wellness but also provided a sanctuary of empowerment and healing. My journey had taught me the importance of resilience and self-belief, and I wanted to incorporate these values into my business. Starting small, I focused on quality, client experience, and unique offerings that set my studio apart from traditional fitness centers.

Ultimately, my decision was about creating something meaningful that could sustain my family and contribute positively to the community. It was a leap of faith, fueled by a promise to maintain my faith in challenging times, which has guided me throughout my entrepreneurial journey.

Kika Stretch Studios, the first business I founded, set the stage for my entrepreneurial journey. It began with just $500 and a deep-seated belief in the power of wellness and assisted stretching. What sets Kika Stretch Studios apart is our commitment to providing a personalized and holistic approach to health. We don’t just focus on physical wellness; we strive to create a supportive environment that nurtures mental and emotional well-being. This commitment has cultivated a loyal community and driven our success.

Building on the foundation and principles established at Kika Stretch Studios, I ventured into my next business, Black Box Franchising. This consulting company specializes in transforming small businesses into franchises, leveraging my experiences and successes in scaling Kika Stretch Studios. Black Box Franchising offers a unique service, providing strategic advice and operational systems to help businesses expand effectively and sustainably.

The road to where I am was far from easy. There were numerous challenges, from financial constraints to market saturation and navigating the complexities of scaling a business. Each hurdle required resilience, creativity, and an unwavering belief in my vision. Overcoming these challenges involved learning to pivot strategies, understanding customer needs deeply, and continuously improving our offerings.

Among the lessons learned, perhaps the most significant is the importance of adaptability and listening to your customers. Their feedback has been invaluable in shaping the business to better meet their needs. Moreover, maintaining integrity and staying true to my values has garnered trust and respect from both clients and peers.

What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that Kikawise is more than just a name; it’s a representation of overcoming adversity and building something meaningful. Both Kika Stretch Studios and Black Box Franchising embody the principles of resilience, innovation, and empowerment. If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d be excited to share the vibrant energy and diverse culture of the city, along with showcasing the holistic wellness approach of my new Kika Stretch Studios location in Douglasville.

The Adventure Begins:

Upon my friend’s arrival, I’d first take them to the newly opened Kika Stretch Studios in Douglasville. Here, we’d enjoy a unique combination of stretching and chiropractic care, thanks to our partnership with Dr. Bolar at Vital Life Chiropractic. This session would set a relaxed tone for the week, fully aligning body and mind.

Cultural Deep Dive:

Next, we’d explore the rich history and art of Atlanta. A visit to the Atlanta History Center offers a deep dive into the region’s past, while an afternoon spent at the High Museum of Art immerses us in world-class art exhibits. We wouldn’t miss a live performance at the Fox Theatre, a historic venue known for its stunning architecture and top-notch shows.

Food and Flavors:

Atlanta’s food scene is a mix of old and new, soul food and modern twists. We’d dine at The Varsity to experience its iconic drive-in vibe, followed by Southern delicacies at Mary Mac’s Tea Room. For a modern dining experience, Staplehouse offers a rotating menu in a cozy, contemporary setting.

Nature and Scenery:

To embrace Atlanta’s natural beauty, we’d spend a day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, enjoying the lush landscapes and seasonal exhibitions. A leisurely stroll through Piedmont Park would offer both scenic views and a taste of local life.

Eclectic Evenings:

Our evenings would be spent exploring the eclectic neighborhoods of Atlanta. In East Atlanta Village, we’d catch local bands and enjoy craft cocktails. Midtown promises vibrant nightlife with its chic bars and clubs, perfect for experiencing Atlanta’s lively spirit.

A Relaxing Farewell:

As the week winds down, we’d return to Douglasville for some relaxation and reflection at Kika Stretch Studios, rounding off the trip with another wellness session to rejuvenate before my friend’s journey home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to give a huge shoutout to my faith, which has been my anchor and guiding light through the toughest times. It was a promise to maintain my faith that initiated my journey to where I am today.

I also owe immense gratitude to my child, who has been my inspiration and motivation to strive for a better life. Their resilience and support have been pivotal in every step of my entrepreneurial journey.

Additionally, I’d like to recognize the incredible community of clients and supporters at Kika stretch Studios. Their trust and belief in my vision have not only sustained the business but have also helped it thrive and grow.
