Meet Kierra Monique | Model & Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kierra Monique and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kierra, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Never give up. EVER. Perspective is key when pursuing any and everything you desire while going through both the peaks and valleys of the journey. For every no, there will be a yes. That’s something everyone has heard BUT it’s very true. No’s are definitely blessings in disguise, because they still help guide you to the final destination, which is your purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So, usually I would just say “artist” because my hands are in so many different forms of art. I model, create stained glass pieces(think of the beautiful windows you see in churches), pour paint, do make up, and I also build sets/develop concepts for photoshoots. I like to evoke feeling, rather it be calming or shocking, I just want you to feel something. If you feel something, to me, you’re present.
To get where I am today, it’s been a lot of simply pushing forward. Networking across and up. People think networking up is the answer and it is very important, but networking across and developing connections with other people who are still working on bettering their profession lives, is JUST as important. They understand. I’m not saying those above don’t because they’ve been where you are in some form but it was at a different time. That now factor just adds that little extra support and that support is something you’re going to want when things get hard. Trust me when I say THINGS WILL GET HARD. You’re constantly battling the outside world as is trying to get them to see what you already see in yourself and your work, but there will be moments when you find yourself in a battle mentally, questioning it ALL.
There are so many lessons that I’ve learned, whew but I’ll just share a few. Get things in writing. Never question your worth, because there are people out here who see you and agree you deserve that or more. You can succeed alone, but the love and support of others is just as beautiful, if not more so be open to it when it feels genuine. Oooh! And please please please please please put your mental and physical health above all.
Now my brand? My brand is all about self love and being yourself authentically and fiercely that is a powerful energy source that many do not recognize. Committing to any idea you believe in and executing it with love and light so that when other people stumble across it, they receive that love and life and use it to do the same for themselves? That’s what HausOfKm is and when you enter any room in the Haus, you will feel that energy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh jeez! People here feel like they see a ghost when I get out. I’m more of a homebody, I like intimate settings more than I do anything else.
So Bestie and I would probably keep it simple most of the trip.
A little picnic or nap session somewhere where we can enjoy a bit of nature, Riverside is one place I’ve enjoyed picnics. You’re next to the river, you can set up right under a tree and watch other people do their thing. However, it’s gotta be during a certain time of the day when there’s less people around. From there, we’d probably go eat. I’d say Maria’s Cantina, it’s got the good drinks and super fresh food. Since we’re feeling good by the time we leave there, I’d say head to this cute little spot in Midtown called The Zebra Lounge where they have a live piano player doing covers. It’s my favorite solo date spot.
Maybe have a spa day planned, top if off with a little movie at Malco on the Square, you can purchase wine at this theatre and I’m all about some wine. Go to one of the restaurants in Midtown since we’d already be there after the movie, one of my favorite spots is Babalu! The best lettuce wrap tacos ever. This would more than likely be a Friday night thing, but I would take us to another lounge called Mollie Fontaine, it’s cute and quaint, but the DJ is everything and you can mingle if you want but you don’t have to.
Like I said I’m more of an intimate setting girl, so this kinda sums up the things I would have Bestie and I doing. haha

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh wow! Yes! Shout out to every light in my life that has surrounded me whenever I have found myself in the darkness of those valleys and shined with me at the top of those peaks: Can’t have anyone feeling left out so I won’t say names BUT my parents, my sister, my inner tribe, my little social media family, and the Great Spirit. You all are so so so special to me for simply sharing your love and your space with me. The way you all inspire and motivate, it’s forever gratefully appreciated and I only hope I pour into you all as much as you all have done with me. Ich liebe dich sehr!!!
