We had the good fortune of connecting with Kierra Irvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kierra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When it comes to being successful, you have to take risk. If you don’t, then who will? Risk taking has played a major role in my life. I wouldn’t be as far as I am in life if I didn’t take risk. I look at it this way, it’s either going to work or it’s not. You can’t be scared of what might or might not happen. All it takes is one time and your life could change forever. Being an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that you have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone in both your personal life and Career if you want to elevate. If you don’t take risk, you can’t win.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Realtor, Real Estate Investor & I’m the Director of Little Angels Pre-School & child Care Center Inc. located in Valdosta Ga. Little Angels is a private owned child care facility that is family owned. Started in the inside of our home to now a multimillion dollar business. I must say, taking on the directors position was nerve wrecking at first because even though I’ve been in the business my whole life, I didn’t think I was ready to take on that role but here we are years later and it has molded me to where I see life differently now. Transitioning and becoming a Realtor was probably the most challenging thing for me. It showed me that if I wanted it, it wasn’t going to come easy. Coming into a field that I knew nothing about and realizing that even the people you thought would support you, wouldn’t. Every client I had to go out and get and every sale, earned. I cherish my Real Estate career because it has taught me so much in so little time. Rather I’m selling homes or being a landlord, I’m constantly learning. Different professions with same end goal and that’s to help others, from children to adults. One thing I would want the world to know about me is that I am a woman that’s serving in her purpose and I’m just getting started. I believe that if you put God first in everything you do, he will give you everything your heart desires as long as you have faith & put in the work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Valdosta Ga, one of the food spots I would suggest is Big Nicks if you’re looking for a variety of food like wings, soul food & bbq. One of my new favorite spots is called the fairway tavern if you’re looking for a nice dinner with good drinks. Valdosta is also known for its theme park wild adventures if you’re looking for family outings. Last but not least, we are called winnersville for a reason, Valdosta takes sports very seriously. If you come here during football season it’s the best time to see the city come together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my support system. Luckily, I was able to be raised by entrepreneurs. It motivated me and humbled me. I was able to see the good, bad & ugly when it comes to owning a business. When I wanted to step out and become an entrepreneur as a Realtor and Real Estate Investor, they supported me. I was able to become my own person & boss outside of what everyone knew me as and that’s what makes me the person I am today and for that, I am forever grateful.
