We had the good fortune of connecting with Kientazya Hawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kientazya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always made my own hair and skin care products since I was in high school. As I got older I wanted to create something that could help heal others like I’ve healed myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Creating my own homemade 100% natural products came easy to me. Once I had to create a formula for my hair care products it became a little more difficult because I had to be very specific about what I added and how much was going in. Creating a hair line that promotes healthy hair growth with no chemicals was a huge for me because as someone that has been natural for over 12 years we needed something like this for the natural hair community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because I am I hippie lol I like to hang out around like minded people. Historical west end some of my favorite places are TheZen Bar, Wadada, Tassili’s raw reality. If I wanted to get in the city cafe sunflower is a great vegan place. Andretti’s and Topgolf is also a favorite of mine to have some fun with friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my family and friends for all the support and motivation throughout the years of building my brand to where it is today.
