We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiara Quick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Honestly I didn’t have a thought process!!!

The business formed itself. I was making clothes for myself to feel confident after giving birth to my daughter. I was trying to lose the weight so I would design my own workout gear to wear to the gym. People started asking where I get my apparel from and I would say “ME” and they would ask if I could create an outfit for them.

I never thought about having my own business, but creating my own Athleisure wear blossomed into a beautiful business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I tell people I have a 9-5 and a 5-9. My 9-5 career I am a Sr. Compensation & Benefits Consultant for Children’s National Hospital! I hold a degree in Mathematics – with my day job I am able to utilize my math degree. I love working with numbers!

My passion is my 5-9 designing and creating content.

People call me the Mermaid that’s what I am known for lol! I believe in fairytales and exude this confidence that everyone gravitates to.

I am most proud of how I am able to balance my career, my passion, being a mom as well as having a social life!

I show up as my true self is what sets me apart from others. I believe everyone can win and I am a huge advocate for pushing people to tap into their glory!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My aunt Freeda, My mom KC and my friend Tierra.

All three of them believed in me and my aspirations in life. My aunt Freeda started it all when I was a little girl dressing me like her Barbie doll. I would always get best dressed in the year book and from there I knew I was destined to be in the fashion world, I just didn’t know where exactly.

I modeled, I styled, but I was not fulfilled. It wasn’t until I started designing that I knew where I belonged in the fashion world.

My mom helped financially by investing in the things I may need to become a designer such as sewing machine’s etc….

My friend Tierra helped on the business side such as trademark , LLC etc…..

I truly felt like I could do this with their support.
