We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiara Moody and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business I was only thinking about my legacy and what I would be known for . All my life I been inspired by women who were business motivated! I knew I was going to be of high influence and I always felt that I had knowledge and charisma to share with the world. When starting my business I wanted a platform where my guests and audience could be free of judgment and speak on topics that are controversial. I wanted to focus on the hard topics the painful ones and the ugly ones . Life is not all sunshine and rainbows focusing on all things surrounding the human experience is the content I put out ! Fashion, comedy , real raw emotions and entrepreneurship .
Even though I’m far ahead of the game in my journalism career I still always remain humble and know I’m not done yet ! Still have so much work to put in !
What should our readers know about your business?
My podcast is about A mix of many things . I love showing love to black business and giving back to the community! Laughandkiki is more then just talking about pop culture , Atlanta , new music and most importantly fashion and topics hot topics we have a platform where you can truly come as you are .
What sets me apart from others is my work ethic and no matter how many times life knocks me down I will never give up . Another fact is that im not scared to talk to anyone. Networking is my biggest asset! I always say your network is your networth ! Having friends in high places is important for success. I am most excited to open up my production studio that would be opening in a few years !
How I got to where im at business wise is from networking. At my servering and bartending job I
Met Big-Doom who already had a podcast with livehiphopdaily he offered me a job being his assistant which got me in the door starting my career from this I build up my network of celebrities .
Also his Acquaintances helped me gain popularity on different podcast. This was not easy at all ! Booking guest to come on to the podcast was hard work people would see the platform as too small for them and just be rude honestly , but most people would invite us to other events and what to work with us more
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When big key is outside 😝
First- Go by little five points to see whats the vibes on ! ( little five points is my favorite place in the city )
– do some shopping and mingle with the locals
Then to Atlantic station to eat and get drinks at one of the many restaurants ( literally a big part of my careers were here / I grew up in this area)
Then go to the high museum of art to relax
Then find anywhere in Atlanta to get hookah 😂 They might have it at the gas station . One thing about Atlanta they have hookah everywhere
Then go to buckhead village for dinner ( because this is black girl luxury over here 😂)
Finally we would go to one or two of my favorite clubs to pop bottles 😝
– zari Atlanta
– eleven 45
– royal peacock
( if its a Sunday im definitely at Bonfire 🔥)
