We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiante’ (Kalianna) Habersham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiante’ (Kalianna), let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by every thing around me. the people, the atmosphere/ my surroundings, all the unique sounds and the music I listen to. I’m definitely inspired by my own actions in life. I’m forever evolving and learning new things. I go through many emotions, all the time! Lol I like to allow myself to feel and I express myself based off those emotions and fortunately, I cone up with amazing and beautiful things during these creative expressive episodes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say that I specialize in expressing myself through visual arts and healing the mind, body, and soul through Earth’s natural elements. I am a a painter, graphic artist, web designer, jeweler, and herbal healer. I cater more to the contemporary and expressive side of art due to it’s freedom of expression. My creations reflect a contemporary/ Afrocentric style that allows my audience to relate to me on an artistic and personal level. I’ve participated in Spoleto in 2017 for a kinetic type music video I created. I have been showcased in 3 galleries in Downtown, Charleston, I’ve recently participated in the North Charlestons Arts Festival and my jewelry has been featured in the Charleston Fashion Week Show. I am currently the owner of two businesses. Kalianna.Arts LLC, is a small creative arts business where i specialize in paintings, digital art, provide special branding, advertising, and collateral for businesses, and making high energy jewelry using elements like, crystals, metals, stones, and local shells.

It hasn’t really been a smooth road, but that’s what makes it interesting. I’ve always been an “Extra” person so I knew having an easy and simple journey was never part of the equation. However, I will say that even though I’ve had my detours, and road blocks, I find that all of these obstacles turned out to be blessings in disguise or important lessons I had to learn. I strive to work on myself everyday because i realized sometimes we can be our worst critics and it’s good to practice being more gentle with yourself especially when you’re not feeling as “groovy” as usual.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, for starters, We HAVE to go to the beach! Typically Folly or Sullivans Island. Then Grab some food from Dashi and finish the night at someone’s fire pit. Then for the next few days, take trips to all the local antique and thrift stores, go to stores like Mellow Mood, and head to park circle to go bar hopping. I’d also spend a few hours walking the streets of downtown, go gallery hopping and have a picnic around the battery under the big trees.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a HUGE shout out to my spiritual family at “A wonderful Approach”. A Wonderful Approach is a spiritual healing and educational organization Founded by Mother Seven. I’d also like to give a major shoutout to my wonderful, loving mother Maria James and my beautiful, supporting Fiancée Courtney Palmer.
