Meet Kiana Collier | Realtor & Credit Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiana Collier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business because I wanted to help my community. I saw a lack in the black community when it came to credit and money management.
What should our readers know about your business?
In 2016 I decided I wanted to buy my first home. After working with a loan officer I realized that I was not in the position to purchase a home at the price point I would have liked. It was not due to credit alone but more of money management. I paid my bills on time but had too much debt. So, my approval amount was very low. At this time I also found out that my husband’s credit was not up to par so he could not assist me. So, I started this journey of managing our finances differently. Building our credit and placing us on the envelope system. As I started loving the process and talking to co-workers, old classmates, and Facebook friends they were not aware of how credit and finances were affecting the interest rates when they were buying cars or this was also the reason they could not get approved for credit cards. I also noticed they were so excited that I was in the process of buying a home but had a lot of questions about how to get started. This is why I went to real estate school. So, I became a licensed Real Estate Agent, incorporated my knowledge of business and credit into my company and my first deal was my own home.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend come to town we are definitely eating. We would definitely go to Roc South, Nana’s Chicken and Waffles, Spice House, and The Boiler Seafood Atlanta (anything seafood) just to name a few. We are definitely hitting some malls to shop and maybe a lounge.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my husband Rico Collier. He allows me to use him as the test dummy in all my ventures. He believes and pushes me every day. I roll over and say “I want to add this to my business” he stands by it with no doubt.
