We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiah Pettus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love being a hairstylist and being able to make people feel confident and show my clients the beauty they already have. I am most excited about seeing my visions expand. I often think about what fun thing I can do to make Center of Attention Beauty Bar grow. The process of my journey has not been the easiest walk in the park. I am constantly learning about how to be able to grow my skills, which I have been doing for nearly a decade. In addition to hair, I plan to get a license to be able to do many more things surrounding cosmetology. Starting, I had financial struggles that I was able to overcome through education. Education has given me the ability to pursue my dreams. I educated myself about opportunities that I didn’t know existed and was able to help me through tough times. I learned not to limit myself and that sometimes the only thing that is in my way is me. I learned to lean on educating myself on the things that I am not aware of and trust the process. I would want the world to know that I would not be here if it wasn’t for God. My story has not been easy but at the end of the day, it has been worth it! I am proud of myself and where I am today. My salon, Center of Attention Beauty Bar, is determined to enhance the already beautiful you so that you can conquer the world on full throttle! Come by and see us!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is such a great question, I am not from Atlanta, so when I first got here, I went to tourist attractions. I would take my Best Friend to see Martin Luther King JR.`s Center and attractions. When I first got here, I was so excited to have that experience and it was amazing. We would go to Breakfast at Barneys to start off our day and then go to the Lenox Mall to shop and then go to The Stone to eat lunch. It’s such a good place to eat and the food is very authentic. I would stop by The Atlanta Breakfast Club throughout the week for brunch. I would then show them downtown and make sure to stop by the Ferris wheel then get dinner at Cuts Steakhouse, they have the best lamb chops. Other places to eat would be, Fogo De Chao, Rays in the City, and Benihanas. I would try to get some tickets to tour Tyler Perry`s studios if I could. I absolutely love his movies and he is such an inspiration. I would take them to see some of the spots that are from famous movies that were shot here in ATL, such as Hunger Games, Vampire Diaries, etc. I would get drinks at The Sun Dial, it’s such a great place to experience and it has a great sky view of the city. I would make sure to show them Vybes, which is a new lounge that is located in Stonecrest, GA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to first give a shoutout to God. Without him, I would not be here. I would like to thank my children, as they motivate me every day to follow my dreams and be a great reminder that they can be anything they want to be in life. I would like to thank my partner & family that has worked with me through the tough decisions and just being an amazing support for my dreams.
