We had the good fortune of connecting with Khetanya Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khetanya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
KKRU is built on the principle of positivity. We find joy in
strength and support in community. We work together, as one
‘KRU’, to empower the best versions of ourselves through movement, practice, and self-love. We discover growth as we guide our minds, bodies, and spirits toward a better lifestyle.
Together, We Keep Reaching Up.

This motto, “Keep Reaching Up”, is my life’s motto. It is what inspires me in life, everyday, no matter the type of day I may have. I wanted to bring this idea to the business and model a brand around positivity, perseverance, strength, and joy. Fitness is the center of the business, as we offer group classes, privates and community centric classes in many different modalities, we also offer wellness sessions in yoga, mediation and sound healing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Born and raised in Atlanta, my passion for fitness began during her acting, dancing, and musical career. I discovered the practice of Pilates and became a fitness instructor in New York City. My talent in performing arts led me to Los Angeles, where I continued studio training and worked with several A-list celebrities.
In 2023, I established KKRU, a comprehensive online and in-person fitness brand, with the goal of expanding the boutique fitness industry in new ways. Khetanya’s ‘KRU’
, stands for my life’s motto, Keep Reaching Up, and promotes my goal of empowering personal growth for
like-minded and forward-focused individuals. At KKRU, fitness is not just a quick sweat or a means to a finite goal. We find community in the
relationships fostered during a fitness and wellness journey. It is our goal to make Pilates more accessible to all — no matter one’s background, fitness level, or financial status. By offering
complimentary community events and affordable online classes, in addition to personal training, wellness coaching, and high-end retreats, we aim to make a difference for our members.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my parents, Mama Sarahn and RaAum Henderson, for being such great examples of letting your passion lead you to your life’s purpose. I am grateful for their teachings and lessons.
