Meet Khallil Stewart | Artist, Producer, Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Khallil Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Khallil, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a child, we are taught to chase our dreams and no matter how old I got, that inner child in me always pushed me to chase what I wanted in life. My dream has always been to play futból professionally but with 4 knee surgeries my pursuit to turn that dream into a reality was cut short. Luckily, I had another passion, music, which has been in my life ever since I wrote my first poem at the age of 6. While I was going through my injuries, music was my only way to cope. Though at the time it was acting as my therapy, it quickly turned into a career and I never looked back. As a natural creative, being an artist is perfect for me because I get to create whatever I want whenever I want and that makes me free. And in reality, all anybody wants is to free.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The reason I believe that my music/art is different from others is because of all the influences that I pull from! I am inspired by early 2000’s alternative rock, rappers like Jay-z and artist like Kanye west and Kid Cudi. With those influences engrained in my music, it allows me to create something fresh and new while still having strong ties to top genre bending artist.
I got to where I am today as a professional artist by being persistent, consistent and having a competitive nature that sports gave me. These 3 attributes have pushed me to want to be the best at anything I do and never stop even when I make that happen. It isn’t easy because often times you are hit with obstacles that are outside of your control that make you feel like giving up. Also the mental stress of constantly being vulnerable through your creation only for people who weren’t part of the creation to judge it can be hard to deal with. But at the end of the day, taste of music is subjective and as an artist you have to realize this and never get hurt if people say they don’t like your music. Just believe in yourself and trust in your ears and your heart at all times!
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I will always give back along the way and spread love non-stop. Growing up I was lucky to have a family that was very loving and always tried to help people no matter what. That’s why whenever I drop any type of merch, I always give a percentage of the profits to some sort of charity or use that percentage to do something for someone in need. With so much hate in the world, why not love?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Places to visit: Anywhere on the Beltline, Ponce City, Krog Street, Botanical Gardens, The High Museum, The Battery
Places to eat: Grana, Colonial Square, Plant-bases Pizzaria
Bars: The Garden Room, Jojo’s Beloved, James Room

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mother because she shows me true strength by never giving up! She has been through a lot, and to see her constantly get up every time she gets knocked down has been inspiring to see. And that persistence has now put her in a place where she feels happy and is doing what she wants to do. So there is no other person more deserving of this dedication.
