We had the good fortune of connecting with Khadijah Janee’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khadijah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career pathway because that is all I’ve ever known. Since a young age, creativity and imagination were instilled in me to allow me to dream beyond the typical American Dream. At a very young age, I fell in love with television and video production. I remember watching The Wiz for the first time and thinking, wow, I wonder how this production was brought together. From then, I decided to pursue creative writing to one day become a filmmaker myself. I took a break from creative writing when I reached high school to focus on the behind the scenes of the production world. After high school, college is where I grew very fond of the industry that I was pursing, I was and still am very optimistic about what is in store for me in the future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Khandid Productions currently specializes in Photography and Videography with the hopes of becoming one of the leading companies within the film industry. What sets me apart is that Khandid is still in its growing stage, so it can only grow from here! Professionally, I got to where I am today with the influence of my college professor. She helped spark the idea of building a brand and becoming an entrepreneur. It was not easy leading up to this point, but I also created my business out of the necessity to open doors for myself. In this industry, sometimes, its not about what you know and who you know. I was determined to get my name out there so others could also see my work. I’ve learned a lot of lessons about being patient with myself and always reminding myself that there is also room for learning and improvement. I would want to the world to know that this is just the beginning for Khandid, it will be a household name.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To start off the day I would go get brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe, they have delicious cinnamon roll French toast and great drinks. From there we could go either enjoy Atlanta’s belt line or Enjoy and Escape Room at various locations in Atlanta. For day party vibes, Rose Bar is always a good scene for the grown folks. I’ve also wanted to try Fade + Facet in Atlanta for good night time vibes or MICS in Doraville for some good Karaoke vibes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a special shoutout to my mentor, Cleon Frazier (Media Director of Fairfield Baptist Church Media Ministry) for laying the foundation and helping cultivate my skills and interest from a young age. I would also like to thank my former college professor and producer Carmen Madison for instilling the idea within me, along with class mates, to build and create a brand for myself so that I may create my own avenue to success.
