We had the good fortune of connecting with Keyuna Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keyuna, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from a small city in Florida called “Rubonia” where I grew up without a mother and father present my whole life so being the oldest girl, I had my younger siblings to look after and that included styling all of our hair. I became a stylist at a young age doing adult women and children of all ages hair. From then on the beauty industry made a huge impact on my life because I am able to meet soo many new people and personalities that sometimes build lifelong bonds and friendships.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my originality. I’m not much of a follower or copy cat so I believe In recreating things my own way. What is excites me most is looking forward to living the life that God has prepared for me. I got where I am today by FAVOR. I had no plan written, no short term goals, no nothing I just knew that I was talented and I had a vision, and that I’m a go getter and anything I want I can have and it went from there. It was definitely not easy I had many stumbling blocks along the way especially with having minor children and having no help at all. The most valuable lesson I learned along the way is to just DO IT!!! Don’t wait around on the opinions or advice of others, it can get very discouraging and draining. Don’t over think it or do things out of impulse or anger. I want the world to know that temporary setbacks prepare you for MAJOR comebacks and I want my brand to inspire young women all over the world to just keep going no matter how hard or impossible it may seem.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I like to eat and smoke hookah so depending on the type of mood we’re in our first stop would most likely be Circ daiquiri bar for food and drinks then our next stop would probably be the a mall run to walk around and look cute, shop a little bit. Leave there then stop by a few relatives houses for more food, drinks, and hookah. Then end the night at a lit club then maybe a after hours spot. My favorite one is “Smoke and Mirrors” in Union city. The most exciting place I think to check out is Atlantic station. There’s a lot to do, alot to see, and definitely fun vibes for the whole family

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a special thanks to Michael Jenkins the owner of Michael Allen salon and barbershop for supporting me and my business since I moved to Atlanta. He is a great leader and awesome mentor and tends to keep me level headed when I feel like giving up on my dreams. He always tends to give me that fatherly PUSH to get back to the grind!
