We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevyn Moulton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevyn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success has been community. Community has always been important to “Last Of a Dying Breed Garments”, we put an emphasis on this during our events by including other creatives that inspire us, we began in a small New York/New Jersey setting where clothes were limited to a few people and kept our clothes exclusive. Community has always led people to be drawn to us, with the exclusivity of our brand name and lifestyle.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Personally, I am a curator I believe this wide ranged title embodies my work due to the variety of projects I do and people I work with. I curate different independent fashion and art events. I design clothing for my brand and have helped others do so, I document different events through film and writing to reach different audiences. I’m currently putting out some projects that will inspire future generations in different fields, I look at my work as being bigger than me, “If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place to eat is Jimbos on 168th and Amsterdam in the morning if we’re Uptown. I might take you to Highbridge park to walk the dog or look at the skyline. JJ’s fish and chicken is a must in Atlanta, or King’s Halal Restaurant when in Newark. The best Jamaican food is uptown in the Bronx so when I would visit my aunts in Mount Vernon, Cooler Runnings Jamaican restaurant in the Bronx was the spot. I grew up in a lot of different places with a lot of different people so it’s honestly just depending on where we meet up at you might get a few different experiences.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout all of the creatives L$D involved in “The Renaissance Show” hosted by LODBXGARMENTS. Such as Raisa Mahdi, Kampnine, 2286, Puissance NY, Not Kilos Art, Odd Numbers, Za 2 Luno, Fastlife, No Fear, Matthew Josh, EEGO. Some honorable mentions include 3arthshy, Niy5h, Allsummrr & Raige The Line. All of you inspire us to keep creating with your talent and work. Kampnine, 3arthshy and Matthew Josh specifically helped us with design projects that led to our growth as individuals and designers. The “Renaissance movement” represents young black creatives L$D who make art unattached to oppression and they all embrace that.
