We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process in starting this business was that I want to retain creative control and ownership of the game that we created. There was a lot of time and money invested in bringing Songnario to market and I’d like to build a successful game company that eventually I can pass on to my children.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our game, Songnario is the first game from our company, Afinom Games and Entertainment LLC, which was launched specifically to self publish the game. Songnario is a music based card game that that will turn your next game night into a unforgettable, fun-filled party. As our tagline states there’s “a song for every scenario” and the game play prompts players to pick songs that they feel fit the various scenarios and to convince the judge that their song selection is better than the other players.

Each game contains 136 scenario/subject cards, a 12 sided die, a list of 12 pre-selected musical genres, a sand timer, and a dry erase marker

What I’m proud of about our game is that we’ve designed it so it can be played over and over and it’s never the same game.

The unpredictability of the rolled die and musical genre for each round of the game makes every scenario card open to hundreds of different answers. You don’t have to wait for the next expansion pack or invest in upgrades to keep your game night fresh.

Another standout feature of Songnario is that the musical genres can be changed to reflect your groups tastes and preferences by just flipping over the card and using the supplied dry erase marker to make your own list of music categories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shout-out to my wife, (Monifa), and kids, (Kayla, Mya, and Isaiah). They’ve all been a part of this journey, as collaborators, playtesters, and constant supporters. Our love of board games and music spurred the idea for Songnario and they all assisted me in making this a reality.
